After a lot of research I decided on the 9e due to its size and being inflatable.

All in all its a great tent and you get what you pay for. The material is very thick, more like a canvas than traditional modern tent material.

We had this up in gale force winds and the thick air tubes proved excellent in coping with the stresses. Waterproofing proved the best I've had yet.

The tent comes in two large suitcase sizes bags, so beware- you need a large boot to transport it and it will take up most of it. My only niggle with it is the colour scheme. Yes it green outside, but the mix of fabrics inside give it quite a nauseating technicolour hue inside like a hippies bad dream. Picky, but this for me could be worked on in updates. I really like the privacy windows, and the modular bedroom layout.

If you have the money this is likely to last years and is a solid investment for a family sized tent.

Bought the 9e last year and first use was July 2018. We are a family of 2 adults and 3 teenagers. We bought this tent due to its good looks, brand and size in order for kids to have separate rooms. It did not disappoint and looks so much more robust and sturdy compared to its counterparts. It was relatively easy to inflate with a non electric pump it took about 1/2 hour but hubby reckons could get that down to 20 minutes. One night we had a gale and gusts up to 50mph and it coped admirably and so too with some heavy squally showers. Some other campers left during the night as their tents hadn't faired so well. We like it also because it gives you greater privacy than some tents with its tinted windows. The space in it is amazing and we could still sit comfortably round a table in the middle of the tent even with the extra pod in place. Loads of room in the front, we take a small chest freezer, two separate cupboards and cupboard with gas stove on. The dual protector made a big difference when it was sunny as it reflected the sun and kept it at a much more comfortable temperature in the high temperatures we have had in the Summer this year. It has transformed our camping experience and we are thrilled to own it and don't regret it at all. It is pricey at full price, but in our opinion well worth it, although we didn't pay more than Ł1200 for footprint, carpet and dual protector, so we feel great value if you can get a great deal like we did.

Back to camping after 20 years & not so young or healthy so forked out a pretty penny for some space, luxury & ease of pitching with the Wolf Lake 9e.

This is a BIG tent some 24 feet long & 15 feet wide & be warned that many sites don't seem to have pitches big enough or will charge extra for a 'super' pitch or maybe even two. Many sites also seem to restrict numbers so using this even for six people is limited in site availability. That said I wouldn't dream of having nine people in it. Five for a long break would be maximum & seven for a few days using the removable extra berth in the main living area. Personally I'm going to make a 'custom' screen around an inflatable round sofa/bed so it can be easily removed during the day & used as part of the main area.

There was only two of us so we made the two main berths into one rolling up the separating screen & had masses of room even with a double camp bed with double inflatable mattress on top. The middle berth would still fit this although we would have to utilise under bed space for luggage (why we got the camp bed). The other berths will take a double inflatable mattress & all berths had room in front for shoes. Plenty of pockets round the berths for phones, glasses etc. Head room is more than adequate even for a six-footer. Black night ceilings are great for some extra sleep during light Summer mornings.

Main area can easily cope with numerous chairs + table, we had two comfy Gelert chairs + two inflatable loungers. Tinted windows all round are great for privacy on busy sites. Whether they keep the tent cooler I can't say as most of our four day visit was fairly cloudy.

Front section has a removable ground sheet which we didn't use having bought a more robust (and cheaper) tarpaulin from an online company. Use it to have another dry room. Area was big enough for a one metre long table for the tea/coffee/general food bits + camping stove & two large storage boxes we transported a lot of gear in. No problem cooking in the tent with the massive head room.

The tent material is good & heavy & absolutely waterproof & there are plenty of vents around. Having mesh on the side doors also should provide adequate ventilation if really hot (you're more than likely abroad). No condensation issues even during the rainy day although with only two in the tent this was hardly likely to show up until a more are sleeping in the tent.

Two bracing tubes go length ways in the front & rear compartments, to help tension the roof. A small point but on a tent of this price I don't know why they didn't provide two more for between the air beams in the main sections. Would have made for the roof in those areas not sagging so much but, I suspect that was more to do with us not quite tensioning the tent guy ropes perfectly on the first real use.

Another small point would be a couple of higher guy ropes at the rear to pull the back section out. Probably us again as above.

Unless you're fit, invest in a high pressure pump. The small ones for mattresses/chairs are useless for the airbeams & pumping up five airbeam with a hand pump is hard work & time consuming. There's also a lot of pegging so take a couple of rubber mallets for two to peg with at the same time especially if it's raining. It's supposed to be a holiday remember.

Unfortunately, we had a slow leak in one airbeam which didn't show up in a very short test in the garden. Had to top the air up about every four hours. A slight lack of quality control on Outwell's part. Fortunately they can be removed, which we did when we took down the tent, for our supplier to repair/replace.

Another design feature could have been added. A zipper opening for the front internal partition to enable a cable to be run inside the tent from from to rear without leaving part of the zip opening open. Just another small point.

Taking down this tent & getting it back into the storage case is an art. On our second attempt we almost made it. Hopefully the third will be success so it takes less room in the back of the MPV.

My one real gripe are the pathetic tie straps provided for the folded tent. Barely 1cm wide with not much spare length for tying & unless you're a knot expert, it's a double knot which it is then difficult to undo. We bought a couple of straps & for the sake of a few pounds this really let's Outwell down in the 'customer service' area. Just penny pinching on a tent not that much shy of Ł2k with the cover we didn't use).

So in summary, it's roomy all ways, waterproof wind-proof & the design is probably pretty near perfection IMHO. Just let down by a few things mentioned & probably a little on the expensive side (novelty of inflatables, convenience & lower sale numbers) & generally overall very pleased with the purchase & looking forward to using it on a longer trip (hopefully France next year) as well as a few shorter excursions before the end of the season with more people as well.
