4 Reviews of the Pathfinder
By: Johnboy004809 Reason: I own(ed) one Made in: 2005 Rating:
We purchased a 2005 Pathfinder at the end of 2021 season. We had been family camping for years and decided we wanted more comforts without going for a full blown caravan. The Pathfinder does make a large van but then folds down and stores on our driveway with ease. We love having all the mod cons like hot cold water and an inside toilet. I have recently fitted the plinth heater that pennine now fit as standard to there pathfinders and this was an easy job and certainly enhanced the camper. Other changes I made was to replace the 12v var socket for twin usb and also added and extra 12v twin usb socket on the opposite side which makes the camper really fit our family needs. I have found many people asking about it and many caravaners remembering when they had one always with fond memories. If I had to pick anything I don't like is that folding down in the rain water can get into the inside as your fold over the canvas.

We have had our Pathfinder for 6 years now and we love our 'Pennie' more than ever. She may be over 20 years old but apart from a few minor cosmetic marks on the cupboards inside you wouldn't know it. She is completely waterproof, even through the stormiest weather, has plenty of space inside the cabin and the awning. Quick and easy to erect with gas struts to help. She has a fridge, which despite it's size holds a fair bit. Toilet and basin, kitchen sink, with hot and cold water, 3 gas rings, grill and integrated oven. The seating is comfy,as are the two beds,it had sprung mattresses when we bought her, but a mouse infestation put paid to those! ☹️ and She is easy to tow( we have a 1.6 Focus) Any downside to our Pathfinder? . Just one. We don't get away in her often enough!

We sold our 1999 Pathfinder to a family friend and treated ourselves to a new one. We recently set up our 1999 model to show its new owners (who have taken it to Scotland on honeymoon) and it looks amazing for its age.
The 2017 model is very similar to our old friend; we now have gas struts to aid the folding mechanism and acrylic instead of canvas. The interior is perfect; two comfortable sofas, two good size beds, good storage and equipment.
You do need to buy a leisure battery (110Ah in our case) and gas (2 x 4.5Kg Calor). It has a TV point but as we never take a TV camping I will swap it for a USB charger.
We bought ours direct from the factory and had under bed skirts throw in free. And we didn't pay anything like £15,995.
If the new model is half as good as our first one, still going strong after 18 years, then we'll be very happy. The pathfinder is, without doubt, the best folding camper you can buy.

We have now been proud owners of our 2016 pathfinder for 1 whole year. We were able to use it all through the 2016 camping season then store it away for the winter season. We held or breath not being able to store it inside under cover we worried it would be ok outside.
The start of 2017 Camping season and we open it up and were happy to see no issues.
Now we have just completed our first 2017 camping holiday in Wales and once again we was not let down. The pathfinder performed her duty of looking after us and keeping us all warm and comfortable in luxury to the highest degree.
This time we used our side awning annex and created even more space.
The unit has a electric flush on board toilet with outside waste cassette. Built in triple burner and gas grill with integrated oven. Also included is the hot and cold running water system and sink area.
The very comfortable you shaped seating area has loads of under seat storage and also hides the water heater and electric circuit fuse box.
The beds one slightly bigger than the other are very comfortable and have enough space for two adults to get a great night sleep We add a thin memory foam to the bed to add more comfort.
The unit boast other great added features like the way it all folds down into the trailer. Your getting caravan size space from a 1000kg trailer. Its great to tow on the back of our 3.6L people carrier and looks great.
We have noticed some minor bad points worth note
We are not as happy as we wanted to be with the curtains. When you open the plastic part of the windows the exposed velcro catches on the underside of the curtains and snags them leaving strains of material in the velcro.
We have also had to get extra spare fittings for some of the awning poles as the plastic ends will easily break of not treated with care. So don't drop the poles when first putting the awning frame up. Although pennine are extremely good with customer care and will replace and help as much as they can.
With out minor little cosmetic things that a new unit shows itself this would of got a 10/10 from us
