Having read the previous reviews of the Phoenix 7ATC before purchasing this tent 2nd hand I feel absolutely compelled to add to the positive reviews. Having camped with family tents for the past 20 years this tent knocks every other previous tent out of the ball park.

I can confirm that not only does the tent stay remarkably Sturdy and quiet in high winds, but it is also much cooler in hot weather and warmer at night time compared to our friends tents

Very quick and easy to put up and take down even in high winds we are extremely happy with our choice.

Exceptional amount of living space, especially with the additional porch, which became the kitchen.

Well done Outwell you surpassed your usual high standards and spared no costs on the quality of the materials.

I can't say enough good things about this tent. The quality of the fabric, the attention to detail - it's by far the best tent I've ever owned, and so much nicer in my opinion than the Kampa Studland I owned previously.

What makes it stand head and shoulders above the nearest rivals from Vango and Kampa IMHO is easily overlooked stuff like the massive insect meshes that separate the porch from the living quarters (Studland and Illusion only have a window, so if you don't want the creepy crawlies coming in with these models, you have to endure a lot of heat and struggle to communicate with anyone in the front). I also love the fact that the curtains are made of cotton and zip up (Studland skimps here and uses polyester - not sure about the Vango).

Perhaps most importantly of all, it didn't let a drop of water in during a torrential thunderstorm in the South West of France. It was cool in the sun and warm at night, and so quiet and cosy. Everything I could have hoped and more - which is a relief given how much it costs.

Oh, and don't worry about the fact that the front section uses poles. Do things in the right order (see Atwools pitching video) and it's really easy - with the airtube living/sleeping quarter section taking much of the weight off the front section, allowing the two polls to be inserted quickly and with little fuss. My wife and I managed to put it up in around 20 minutes the third time we used the tent (although admittedly it took us twice as long the first time, thanks to the pretty inadequate instructions included.)

One of the most important advantages this tent has over the Studland and Vango Illusion XT is that it packs into two separate bags, with the heaviest section being just over 30kg. The polls and pegs each have their own bags too, so they can be separated from the awning bag - making it loads easier to load and unload from the car then the 55kg Studland we used to own, which put a lot of strain on our backs. This is one of the main reasons we made the change.

In short, if you can afford the Phoenix 7ATC, then don't think twice: go for it - seriously one of the best things I've ever bought.

'I LOVE THIS TENT' sorry but I had to shout that.

We have just returned from Scotland with the Phoenix 7 ATC and to say the least the weather was more than a little inclement !We erected in 35 mins in 30mph winds. We had rain in one night of 21mm and wind gusts of 135kph = 83.88 mph ! and it took it all in it`s stride. We were super impressed with how quiet it was under all the stress. We did have two bent guy line pegs (Fluro-Green) But they didnt come out .We only noticed on taking the tent down. But to say that was the only issue is incredible ! This tent is so well made , so quiet with wind and rain compared to a Polyester ! I would highly recommend this tent and we now know that this beast can be used in the wildest of conditions ! 10/10

An expensive beast of a tent, but I'm really pleased with it after 3 pitches and pack ups.

Being polycotton, we really noticed how cool it was in hot weather. But also how much quieter it seemed. The material seemed to absorb sound a lot better than polyester.

It's a hybrid tent so it the 3 back beams are air filled. The front beam, and porch are both steel poles. It would have been better to have all air, but no such tent with these dimensions and features seem to exist so we compromised. To be fair, the poles don't add too much time to the pitch as they feed into the sleeves very easily. However, they obviously take slightly longer at pack up time than just opening the air valves.

Lots of pegging points and guy lines, probably due to the size does mean it takes quite a while to pitch. Perhaps some of these are overkill in pleasant weather, but after paying such a lot for the tent, we weren't prepared to take any risks.

The tent has a full SIG, two side entrances with full mesh & two external cable entry points for EHU making it simple no matter which direction you choose to pitch. Cable tidies lead from both entry points to the central lantern hanging point as well.

It also has a sizeable zip-on porch with an toggle/zip ground sheet which we used as our kitchen/dining area. One negative point is the zip handle on the porch came away on only it's second use. Upon further inspection we noticed this zip isn't the same quality as other zips in the tent. We will be taking this up with Outwell separately. But in the meantime, we made do with a carabiner as a temporary solution.

One feature I liked was the fact that the tent groundsheet can be zipped down flat at the front entrance to the porch, so if you choose to have the tent open, you're not at risk of tripping over the lip.

This feature is also available on the groundsheet in the porch so I was able to sweep crumbs out the front door easily. However, I always remembered to do the zips back up in case of rain.

All curtains in both the tent and the porch were zip up, which is a nice feature; and both side doors also had a zip up window to let more light in if you don't necessarily want the doors open.

I did find the zips on the front of the tent leading into the porch a bit of a faff. There is an archway zip leading from one bottom corner to another, plus the zip down groundsheet. So if you wanted to get anything from the porch, you had to crouch down to one of the corners and open both zips. But I'm not sure how this can be rectified?

The bedrooms are the new ambassador size, so are longer than the average bedroom pod. Lovely to be able to stand at the foot of the bed and get dressed. The bedrooms were also a good height, so no crouching. Lots of storage pockets both in the main tent area and bedroom pods, which was another really nice feature, as well as a piece of guy line suspended across the back of all three bedrooms, which was perfect to had our little light bulbs. Also a large zip up ventilation flap at the back of the tent keeping the bedroom areas well aired.

All in all, we're very pleased with the tent, and only a few minor niggles.
