3 Reviews of the Professional 6
By: Spineless Reason: I own(ed) one Made in: 2009 Rating:
We have owned the tent for a couple of years now and the two previous reviews are both spot on.
Pros:
- Very easy to set up even in windy days.
- Versatile (3 bedrooms, 2 bedrooms or just a big one).
- Roomy and with plenty of headroom.
- Big carry bag: Everything will fit inside even if the tent is poorly folded.
- Detached main room floor / tarpaulin. Easy to put and remove if needed (some water came in last time we camped and it was easy enoug to unpeg the floor, shake it and fit it again). Also by folding the tarpaulin separately, the outer and rooms always stay clean.
Cons:
- Poles too flexible: You really need to make the guy lines tight to have a stable tent.
- Pole sections break easily if hit on the socket (somehow the elastic band stretched a lot while dismantling the tent and when the pole came out and smacked the next one in the socket rim, it split from side to side).
- Manufacture is a bit poor on some parts: Although the seams are all taped and it is very waterproof, when you stretch the tent to make it tight, the seams tend to open a bit. Threads hang out here and there at some seam joining.
- The tent 'flaps' a bit on high winds which makes it a bit noisy at time. Also, the slackness doesn't help its water head rating, which could be a bit higher.
- Condensation might be an issue. Even though the tent has vents which are adequate, condensation can be a bit of an issue whilst trying to dry the tent for packing. That said, the tent dries up very quickly.
All in all, good tent for the money. We have seen more expensive tents not enduring as well the bad weather (we have put up with 12 hrs of uninterrupted rain and force 5 winds with force 6 gusts). With a little bit of TLC the tent can last another year, hence the score given.

Used it twice an took it back and got something else!
Very easy to put up, never having put a tent up before, however I was not happy with the large gap around the bottom, at least 2 to 3 inches, which is fine on a nice day but as soon as it gets a bit windy it gets very draughty. The tent is very roomy.
One of the elastics and toggles for putting the bedroom up broke on first use and one of the side pieces remained 'flappy' no matter how I pitched the tent.

Very easy to erect. All parts colour coded, so idiot proof! Plenty of head room. Bedrooms are a good size with the larger room big enough to hold 2 double blow-up mattresses with room to get between them. Privacy panel can be strung between them to make it a 2-room compartment. Smaller bed compartment is also big enough to fit a double mattress, though there would be no room for anything else.
Stands up well in high winds, though as its so flexible, the poles bend a lot making it seem unstable. However, its flexibility is what kept it up for us on Shell Island! Whilst many other tents (of all makes) didn't make it through a particularly rough night, ours was still standing in the morning fairly unscathed! Heavy rain meant that it leaked a little as the outer skin isn't really taught enough to prevent the outer and inner skins touching during high winds. Having said that, it lasted most of the night before we had a few drops on the sleeping bag!
Lots of room once the rooms are in to get your washing up facilities and table and chairs inside should you need to, with just enough room to use them without crowding. Great tent for the money.Certainly cant moan, though we don't really expect it to last more than a couple of years. Perfect for bigger families just starting out.
