2 Reviews of the Regatta 4 Man Family Starter Set

Argos regatta 4 person tent, we bought one when they were only £100. Have been camping once so far and it was good weather but we did find it difficult to put up and without a sewn in ground sheet could be draughty. You can buy clips and clip ground sheet to the mudflap to prevent it being blown around. Altogether it is a good tent but could do with more comprehensive instructions.

If you are thinking of buying this tent my advice would be DON'T! We bought this tent last year to replace a faulty Coleman one which was no longer available from Argos. We wanted a tent with a separate sleeping area but also a living area my partner could stand up in as he is over 6' tall. It came with free accessories: 2 airbeds, 1 double and 2 single sleeping bags and 2 windbreaks which we though was good value until we came to use it!
We had a nightmare trying to put the tent up as nothing fitted correctly. It has this strange system where you insert a pin on the flysheet into the end of the pole. It took us the best part of an hour where normally even with a new tent it takes 10-15 mins. We were disappointed to find the ground sheet was not integral - even more so when we had got the tent up and then found the loops on the groundsheet needed to go over the tent poles - except they didn't reach the poles as the groundsheet was too small! We had a foot wide strip of bare grass inside the tent. The sleeping compartment also didn't fit and one of the toggles was not stitched in properly and came off in my hand. It was shoddily made, with threads hanging everywhere inside. Worse was to come as it was a windy weekend and with no integral groundsheet the wind was whipping around our ankles all weekend. It was the coldest, draughtiest tent I have ever slept in. The windbreaks were useless as the flimsy poles bent when you tried to hammer them into the ground. Every time we returned to it after a day out the flap had come unzipped and stuff was blowing around the campsite. I would never buy another Regatta tent after this one, which is going straight back!
