8 Reviews of the Regatta 6 Person Frame

By: Hobo-Joe  Reason: I own(ed) one  Made in: 2014   Rating:

I bought this tent last month to start camping with my family.

I have to say it was relatively easy to pitch. But did find 2 issues. 1 big, 1 small.

The small issue was that I found that not all of the tent sat level with the ground. I would assume that maybe as a novice I wasn't pitching it properly. But I had a friend who's a season camper help me out.And he couldn't figure out why it was happening either. Not a big issue tho.

The 2nd one is a huge issue tho.As previous reviews have mentioned. The ground sheet. It only cover the middle area and is attached to the tent 'frame' by a few toggles. It doesn't attache to the openings on either side and leaves a gap that flaps each side in the wind. The problem with this is that we camped during the recent massive thunderstorms in Norfolk. Needles to say, the middle section of the tent, both nights, were absolutely flooded with water. This made it very awkward to check on my kids on the other side of the tent, and previously my friend who would use this section to sleep in, had to sleep in his car. Obviously its not a comfortable feeling sleeping in a pod, next to a section that is filling up with water. Apart from that, the rest of the tent held up perfectly to the wind and very heavy rain!

On a positive note, we found the sleeping pods very spacious. One pod fit 3 of my kids in, (ages 5,6 and 12) without any fights over space and they were warm, comfortable and cosy.

The other pod fit myself, my Wife and my 2 year old daughter. Again, we were cosy and warm, with space to sleep comfortably. As mentioned, the middle section fit my friend, and prob at a push another person even tho its not designed for that. ( This is all based on simply using the tent to sleep in.Some people may prefer more space etc when they go camping. We used the tent to sleep in and stored bits in the car, then stored bits in the tent when we went for trips out in the car! Lol)

Its my first tent and thought it was a bargain for £99 new for the space it provides (Tho Ive not used any other tents so can't compare it) I will be customising it for our next trip by putting my own ground sheet in it to stop any rain/wind getting into the middle section.

I'd say get this tent if you're mainly using it to sleep in, but take into consideration about the leaking middle section and the rain getting in. If you want a tent that offers more storage space etc and need to guarantee itll be dry in rain.Maybe look elsewhere.

Got this to go camping in France. It's a big tent with room to stand up in the living area. Pods reasonably big. As usual you need to take two off the people number i.E. This is a four man tent.

The major drawback is the doors/groundsheet in the living area. Groundsheet is not sewn in and the doors (both sides) flap in the wind. No matter what we did the doors would flap in over the groundsheet. The first night it rained and in the morning there were puddles on the groundsheet caused by the doors being blown in over the groundsheet. A few days later it rained while we were at Disneyland and, yes, there were more puddles on the groundsheet when we got back. More sponging up water.

This is a major flaw. A separate groundsheet doesn't have to mean puddles when it rains, but the flapping doors mean it does. We didn't have any confidence in the tent if it rained. Oh and the groundsheet ripped and a pole broke when we were taking it down. Really poor value at even £79.99. Will be taking it back to Argos for a refund.

Need to have a number goes, and two people, putting the tent up before we felt confident. But a very good tent loads of room for the two of us, would agree be difficult to sleep 6 adults.

Only disappointment, because we are novices, and with hindsight, did not realise that a fully sewn in ground sheet would have been better than just the sleeping pods having them. Still good value from Argos for under £70.

Does any one know if this tent has an extension canopy? if so where can one be obtained.

Bought this tent in July this year, it's easy enough to pitch. I would not say it's a 6 person though, more like 4.

I have only used it with 2 people so far. I did purchase a large ground sheet to cover the full length of the tent after reading previous reviews, and I'm glad I did. I needed it. The fly sheet doesn't reach the ground I had to lift the ground sheet up at the sides to keep out draughts. This worked though. The living area isn't very big and there is no way 6 people would get in there, would be a squeeze standing up. I bought it in a sale for £67.99 so happy enough with it but wouldn't pay full price for it.

This is a big tent for the money. I paid £99 in March 2011 (seems they're down to £79 this week). Fairly straightforward to put up (I did one trial run at home before hitting the campsites) and it seems robust. I don't think you'd be able to put it up single-handed though. The sleeping compartments are large enough to stand up in and while it would fit 6 people, as usual, it's better for a lesser amount. We had two adults and two kids under 10 and had plenty of space.

We brought our bargain tent and found it a little tricky to put up to begin with. This is because we have been use to a 3 man tent. The black clips that fit to the outside poles were a bit fierce and I received a couple of pinches from them. It could do with a few more guide ropes either end to pull the fly sheet away from inner pods a bit more. But it stayed dry and warm and the pockets came in useful. Don't be tempted to hang anything form the door loops is it rains because then water will come in and go on your wet weather gear. A big learn for us.

Just to add to the very good review above from Greentop - Argos have just halved the price to £64.99 so even more of a bargain! I've just bought one and it was the last at my local store so hurry as I don't know how long this offer will last! My Nephew & I have been camping in France, Germany & Italy for the past 5 years in a 3 man tent. We thought we'd treat ourselves to a new tent for this year. At this price we can afford to more than double the space and give ourselves a living area too as this is only £20 more than our little tent cost us 5 years ago!

This tent it is currently on offer at 99 quid until 8 June then its back to £129.99 so hurry, if you look on Argos site you will see it. It was even easy to erect and it was windy up on the hills of Bolton today. Its 2000 hydro ,taped seams, 2 doors, middle living area ground sheet, 4 windows , well vented, adjustable straps on bag to attach your pole bag solves prob of it all not going back in. Attachable multi net, bits and bob pockets. Lots of tent. I would have guessed it cost a lot more if I didn't know. I am 46 yrs old, camped nearly all my life and know my stuff, this without a doubt a good tent and a lot of tent for the money even at its normal none sale price.
