1 Reviews of the 2 Seconds XL II Illumin Fresh
By: AK47UK Reason: I own(ed) one Made in: 2015 Rating:
I bought this tent for various music festivals throughout the summer. My criteria was simple, I wanted a tent that was light/compact enough for me to carry, simple enough to be put up by 1-2 people, spacious enough for a double mattress, didn't light up like the gates of hell in the morning and wasn't like a sauna when the sun was out.
Although the shape of the packed tent isn't great due to it being a pop-up, they have included straps on the bag so it can be worn as a backpack. It isn't too heavy either so that was the first criteria hit.
One person can have this tent completely pitched in minutes, it couldn't be simpler. Packing it away also takes minutes once you have practised a few times.
I ended up buying the Quechua Arpenaz Air Comfort Inflatable Bed (140cm) and it was a perfect fit for the tent. I am 6 feet tall and the tent fit me and another adult with plenty of space. The front porch is fairly small but large enough to fit a backpack and wellies which is all I needed it for.
The material has a silver lining on it so this blocks a lot of the sun out but it is not a blackout material. This makes it good in the morning where other tents are too bright making it hard to nap. For night time there are LED lights built into the tent which are powerful and fairly useful.
The tent seemed to come into its own when the sun came out. Whereas every other tent I have owned turned into a sweatbox, the Quechua remained pleasantly cool. There are several vents that you can open and close to adjust the airflow. I haven't tested it on a scorching day yet but my friends were complaining about their tents whilst I was happy in mine.
Some have mentioned the vertical space in the tent, to be honest it didn't bother me at all but I haven't used it in heavy and persistent rain yet so perhaps if you were stuck in the tent for a while it would become more of an issue. It did rain a bit and there were some winds blowing other tents away in the campsite but this tent held its own without any water ingress or problems staying up.
As a festival tent this is a godsend, it took me ages to find one that met my requirements and I couldn't be happier with it.
