3 Reviews of the 3 Seconds Light
By: Tiggr Reason: I own(ed) one Made in: 2007 Rating:
This tent has been a god send and we have travelled the length of Spain using it. The only problem is the front of the tent frame lifts up, right in front of the door opening. I tripped getting out one night at Silverstone and broke my thumb. You will also need someone to show you how it folds away as this seems to be a nightmare to work out. Once you have been shown and you practise for some time it then becomes a doddle and twenty seconds is realistic.
The ease of use is brilliant and is totally waterproof and lightweight. It is also very spacious, holding a double blowup airbed and a single lilo comfortable. Would have marked it ten if it were not for the frame lift at the front and back.

Very spacious even for two, this tent is let down by it's poor shape. The front outer lifts up waiting to trip you as you exit. It got to the point where I removed the frame and stitched extra pegging loops into the outer. It seems that later models have an extra loop in the centre of doorway.
We'll see how the mod works.

I use this for festivals.
It takes 5 minutes from coming out of the bag to fully pitched !
The quality appears reasonable for the cost (I paid £35). It comfortably sleeps me with two of my kids + bags + luggage !
I am going to use it as an overnighter for me, the wife and the three kids, when we stop off on the way to the South of France :)
One slight complaint - it tends to condensate.
Finally, it can be packed up and in the bag, is less than five mins.
In summary - it does what it says on the tin !

Manufacturer's Description
Instant pop up tent. Up in seconds, down in 15 seconds.
Designed for camping for 3 hikers looking for an instant pitch tent and reduced dimensions for transport.
Flat, 70cm diameter disc when packed
Sleeping compartment is 2.10m x 1.95m. Can easily accommodate 3. Space between the sleeping area and the flysheet is protected, ideal storage for shoes
Access: High door. Only one zip.
Ventilation: 1 roof ventilation flap + 2 low side flaps.
Waterproofing: Polyurethane-coated polyester fly sheet. Heat sealed watertight seams. 120g/m2 polyethylene groundsheet. Like all Quechua tents, the waterproofing has been particularly well-developed, approved in lab tests (tent shower up to 450 litres/h/m2!) and on field tests
As well as being able to carry it on your back directly, you can use the clip buckles to fix it to a backpack, and with the 70cm diameter, it fits much more neatly into your car.
