First tent I've owned in years. I wasn't disappointed. Easy to erect with two people with coloured coded poles. It was up in no time. Roomy and the bedrooms took a double mattress easily. With a sun awning added to the front. Loads of room for a family camp. It stood up to a thunder storm on day one with no leaks and stood fast. Very happy as I am with all Quecha products.

We previously had a large Scandika Saturn 6 which sadly disintegrated on our last camping trip. We had purchased this to take on shorter breaks and weren't disappointed. I think I probably could put it up alone though I did have the help of my son and a kind, fellow camper! The bedrooms are a decent size for two people. The living area is fine for a weekend and could take a small table if needed.

The only thing I found difficult was rolling it up to fit back in its bag but I suspect this will improve with practice. I miss the porch of the Skandika for cooking; otherwise this was a much handier tent.

A good little tent. Relatively easy to put up on my own, but did need the kids to hold the poles still while I pegged the other side into the ground.

This is the first tent I have owned (normally borrow one from a family member) and I was slightly worried that it didn't have a built in ground sheet (well what do you expect for Ł99) it does have a velcro in basin sheet

On return from a day out the main living area was filled with flying ants (wouldn't have got the with a built in ground sheet).

The main living area was tall enough to stand up in and large enough to sit and read in when the kids had gone to bed.

The pods were secure and cosy and plenty big enough to share 1 adult and I child. It may have been a bit too snug if my partner had joined us on this trip.

The colour coding of poles and velcro made putting the tent up simple and the compact light weight (11kg in one bag) made it a great buy for a mum and 2 kids to use alone.

The light colour looked good but meant that we were awake early as the sun came through the fabric)

Putting then tent down and fitting it in the bag was quite easy although it was soaking wet due to condensation.

A good buy but think my next tent will have a built in sheet as makes everything a little more water tight and bug proof.

We used this tent for the very first time 17th July 2015 and I am not disappointed.

It is spacious and easy to put up with two people, although I think it may be a struggle for one! It would be large enough for a couple with two small children, but not sure about older kids as the sleeping compartments are quite small.

Although advertised as a 4 man family tent, the size is perfect for a couple with camping gear. We only put one of the sleeping compartments up, which meant that the rest of the tent was open for us to sit in if it rained and there would have been plenty of space for a small table too if we had wanted! Also ample space for our cases, cool box etc. To be stored. The tent is tall too, and my fiancé could stand up comfortably in it - he is 5ft11.

We had some pretty heavy rain on the Sunday morning - typically as we were just about to pack up - but the tent remained water tight. Some of the seams looked slightly damp inside, but there certainly wasn't any major leaking and this was probably slight condensation due to us only just getting up before the heavens opened!

All in all, so far anyway I am pleased with this tent. It kept the weather out, has plenty of space for me and my fiancé and was reasonably priced.

Just tested our new weekend tent - Quechua Arpenaz 4.2 on the summer solstice weekend 2015, so maximum light. And it was a real success! We had heavy rain showers on one day and it was all nice and dry.

Our main tent is an Outwell Montana 6 for longer holidays but wanted a smaller tent for quick getaways. Our children are 4 and 6 years. We liked the idea of the sleeping pods being opposite ends of the tent – knowing how early the children can wake! Not having their chatter by our ears was quite appealing. We also wanted a tent we could put up in our sitting room to dry (with furniture pushed to edges as far as poss). Living in a flat the tent drying thing is a problem and our garden certainly not big enough to dry our Monty. Also the ‘bathtub’ style groundsheet in the central living is not sewn in but attached with Velcro. We thought this would help with drying the tent - not having one big tent sewn together but the bits being detachable.

So the Tent arrived in one smallish bag and liftable (11kg) – compared to the 2 huge heavy Outwell bags (40kg)! The Arpenaz tent has fiberglass not steel poles so obviously is lighter. We put it up in our living room as a test first and it was very straightforward.

The Poles are colour coded so it is obvious which tent sleeves they go in. The instructions are sewn to the bag which is helpful of them but we didn’t really use them. The guys are white not luminous and we used our storm pegs as their pegs looked ok but would rather have really strong ones.

So the Outer goes up first. It’s a beautiful blue azure colour and grey. Its easily high enough to stand up in. There is only one window – a rectangular shaped one at the back of the tent – too high to look out of when sitting on floor. But you can at least see sky. This has a curtain you can flap down. The front door has no window. After the Montana, and being spoilt with lots of windows this was the one thing I wished the Arpenaz had more of, and especially- a window in the door in the door would be nice. There is no flyscreen as it’s not sealed anyway. There are 4 mesh pockets for storage in the main area which is a nice touch. It was big enough to bring our small table and 4 x campstools in to eat inside with room to spare. A real positive.

The front door could be lifted up like a porch with kingpoles (they are not included) and we forgot to test if our Montana ones would work. I believe the tent used to come with them? The door is straight when you unzip it and almost curves back so you don’t get a morning shower when you open it in the morning. The zip stuck a bit where it curves which was slightly annoying, so that it was probably to do with pitching? We adjusted various guys to see if it would release the tension but nothing obvious that did it. Fiddling did solve it but then other bits of the outer got baggier. Despite that heavy rain didn't get in.

Once the outer is up, you attach in the 2 sleeping pods with clips. They are pale grey/white colour which I was a bit unsure as to how light it would be and whether the kids would wake up too early or not go to sleep in the evening! We actually took 2 dark blue sheets and pegged them over the tops of their pod to darken it slightly. As it was the kids slept fine, didn’t wake horribly early and also went to sleep fine too. Will get a piece of fabric and make a proper shaped cover to peg on.

The Sleeping pods are a nice size actually – we didn’t take the inflatable Coleman mattress but took our 2 x Thermarest SIMs (self inflating mattresses) and they fitted with space at the top and a tiny bit at sides to spare. The plan is to take less stuff at the weekend, we need to work on that! I believe you can get an inflatable double mattress in , but it would prob bulge the sides out a bit. You can’t stand up in the pods, they are lower than the main area and sloping on one side which doesn’t worry me. I would rather it was that way around and be able to stand in the main area. Also they are really quite cosy and warm – after the capacious Montana 6.

The doors have a flyscreen ventilation panel at the top. You might be worried someone could look in if they were strangers but to be honest it’s a family tent! They unzip and tie back at the sides. There is a hanging point in each pod at the side for a lantern and 2 x mesh pockets for stuff on the door side which is useful. The sleeping pods have their own sewn in groundsheet and no bugs got in, and if they did it was because we left the doors open.

The Bath tub groundsheet worked well. I was unsure as to how many bugs would come in having only had sewn in groundsheets before. It was also colour coded so you put it in the right way around and then velcroed onto the sleeping pods and attached with hooks to the main outer. The front can be pulled up like a lip to stop rain splashing in or flapped down so it’s flat on the ground. Good it can do that so it’s not a tripping hazard. No rain got in and we were facing down the hill anyway! In the morning there was absolutely no condensation which was brilliant. There were some bugs /flies that got in but not too bad at all. We were pleasantly surprised.

We couldn’t view this before buying as it’s only sold through the Decathalon website but is a very reasonable price at 99 quid. All in all we would really recommend this as a weekend / general camping tent. I've knocked review stars off because of the small difficulty with tensioning the tent which affected the door zip and wishing the tent had a front door window.

11 mm and 9.5 mm fibreglass. -- All fibreglass poles are subjected to a double quality control to ensure excellent resistance to breaking.

Tent pegs:
Excellent twisting resistance (5 mm steel).
