9 Reviews of the T4.2 XL

Two large bedrooms with a huge living area in between, plenty of room for your camping kitchen, table & 4 chairs.
There are loads of handy storage pockets and plenty of storage space down the sides of the bedrooms.
It's fairly easy to pitch but you have to be a little careful flexing the poles, easier if there is one person on either side when you do this to ensure they are tensioned evenly, otherwise it's quite easy to break a pole. Decathlon's after sales is brilliant though, they replaced the cracked pole immediately without any questions.
Only other slight niggle is that in a tent packed with other features, a hanging loop for a lantern in the living area should be standard.

Got the tent off ebay after spending my first ccamping holiday with frineds in a borrowed tent, which was a bit on the small side. Decided after that holiday that I would get my own bigger tent so was very happy when the Quechua T4.2L arrived. I love the fact it's blue, so light inside. It's great that there is a bedroom either end. There is enough room in the centre for kitchen unit, table and chairs. Lots of nice little storage features too. I just wish it had a window on the front cover, apart from that I would recommend this tent. I don't think they make this one anymore so if you see a preloved one go for it.

Wonderful tent! Although it's a 4 man, we managed to fit in 2 adults and 3 youngish children with no probs.
The middle living space was plenty big enough and due to the bath tub design we stayed dry during some very heavy downpours.
The tent also looks good and has plenty of guy ropes to make is really secure. I did find the guy ropes a bit confusing at first and it took a few goes to get them right.
I would recommend this tent to anyone!

Colour: Brown
The only reason for changing our tent was because we needed more space. (We upgraded to a Kyham Ontario 8 XC)
This is a great tent to start out in as a family.
However, set up a kitchen/cooker inside, the space is almost halved. No matter though, closer is warmer.
It never let us down, and we passed it onto friends who continue to use it now.
It had some great use, even allowing some friends to erect there smaller tent inside it, whilst it was chucking it down at a car show. Even had it fitted into a tight woodland campsite.
Great size, easy to erect. Perfect to begin family camping in.

As I have previously owned an 8man tent, I wanted something a little small as the 8man took up the whole of my boot.
So I saw several good reviews on this and thought blow it lets get one.
The price has gone up now £150
First outing was on a rather breezy afternoon with only my 13 year old daughter to help me put it up, that's where things went wrong.
I put a small rip in a brand new tent.Gutted
Some friends suggested that I returned it as faulty, NO I'm just to honest for my own good and have repaired it with tenacious tape and a needle and thread.
Back to the tent, it's great, as it's name suggests 4XL, so it's larger than you average 4man and has storage space down the sides of the bed rooms.
A great tent for the price and so much less bulky than the old one, so now my good lady and the kids can fill my boot with goodness knows what

We too use ours for weekends (like Mfarnhill), our Vango Aspen 500DLX takes a bit longer to erect.
It's easy to put up, has just that extra bit of space alongside the inners for all the boots etc.
My only 'wish-for' would be insect netting that could be left zipped-down when we lift the door as an awning.

This is a fab tent, easy to put up and put away again! the bedrooms are a good size for two camp beds. The living space it big enough to sit four chairs round a table. The only little problem with this tent is when the awing is up it could do with sides to give you a little wind brake. This tent will do us for years.

This is a great tent for those of us that take wellies to get to the loo in the rain, walking boots for days out, trainers for wandering around the site on. The space around the 'bedrooms' would keep Emelda Marcos happy. We use one side for shoes and rucksacks the other for the water carrier and pots and pans and the cooker. The hanging pockets outside the rooms are ideal for putting your phone, keys, wallet and all of those other small items that you put down and lose if you are anything like me! The living space is big enough for a table and a four chairs but very little else, however with the storage space in front of the bedroom pods you don't really need much else. My only gripe would be the tent would benefit from sides to the (awning)door giving you a bit more room when the weather isn't great and you are stuck inside. We bought ours after a back injury meant I could no longer bend down and this tent is ideal with enough room to stand in even in the bedrooms. Its well worth its money, we've used it in sun, rain and gales and its stood up to everything a treat. Its just as easy to put up as smaller tents of this style, in fact we now use this tent even if its only a night away trip because a half height 4 berth tent is just a false economy when this tent is up and ready in the same amount of time but has double the space.

We use it for weekends as our other tent is an aztec palacio 6 and is a bit big for the weekends. Its a good tent with handy pockets but you only just get enough room for a double air bed. Handy space outside of the pods the entire length of the tent make it good to store wellies, chairs etc, and it was up and full within an hour on the first attempt
