5 Reviews of the T6.2 XL

Bought this tent for a great price of £170 from Decathlon. Assembly of the tent is ok and not too hard. Took 2 of us (never assembled tents before) 40 mins to erect fully (all guy ropes taught and pegged).

As mentioned this tent has a massive living area and is ideal for 2 adults and 2 children. The living area 4 panels that you can open fully providing a great airy space. There are 2 large bedrooms with ample space for 2 adults in each bedroom.

It rained for 2 days constantly and there was not one leak so we all stayed nice and dry, I was very impressed with this. Plus the fact that the living area is large so we were all able to relax without being all jammed in the same area you sleep in that you can be with other tents without separate bedroom areas.

Another great feature of this tent is the LARGE front window, its massive and great if the weather is a bit inclement as you can still have loads of light and be able to look out of without having the tent open to the elements.

The ONLY minus point is the groundsheet is not sewn in but we were not bothered buy this really as no water came in.

Great first tent, Took it down to Cornwall & Had a good weeks weather, so the size of the tent & how it opens up was fantastic.

Only grumble was the big gap at the bottom which the wife wasn't too impressed with, but other than that the tent was great for what we paid at Decathlon last summer & would definitely use it again.

Really pleased with this tent - withstood night of torrential rain.

Large bedrooms, plenty of living space - easy to cook and eat in for us with 3 children. Lovely to be able to open tent up so much.

Only quibble - whats with the large gap at bottom??

I'm going back to Decathlon to see what they say.

Like the previous reviewer what attracted me to this tent was the size of the living space. This is a tent you can actually live in if the weather outside turns nasty. But when the weather's good you can also completely open it up and have a vast marquee to expand from. I can't fault the quality of construction either. Sturdy and pretty well made. The bedrooms are big and well ventilated with nice corner pockets, and do a good job keeping out the bugs providing you are careful about keeping the flaps zipped.

So both roomy and airy. Two factors that I put high on my list when I went out looking for a tent.

Gripes? Well at 28kg it takes two of you to carry it. And you probably need two to erect it as well. A lot of the weight is the support poles so I guess you could carry these separately.

Another questionable feature is the gap at the bottom. Fine for ventilation in summer, but not so great for a cold damp British winter. It also lets the bugs in and presumably water if your pitch got flooded. But I note that there is a T6.2 XL Air which features a groundsheet which may tackle some of these problems. Overall however I'd say this was more of a summer camping tent overall.

Given that proviso its an excellent tent for the money. It certainly looks better than your average tunnel tent, with less of a 'tunnel' feel and more like a big room. Fairly easy to put up and take down. Designed for up to 6 but with 2 people its a veritable palace.

I bought this tent for it's large bedrooms and living area. I looked a quite a few tents with so called double bedrooms, but, to me 1.40 x 2.00 just isn't a double. I know this tent only has two bedrooms, but they are 2.10 x 2.00 - with room for a double and a single airbed in each room. The living area is also very big, so you can easily move your table and chairs inside on a rainy day. There is also loads of choice when it comes to doors, with two on each side and a full width opening front. There is also a built in 50cm awning. Pitching is childs play and my wife and I can do it in about 20mins. My only criticism is even after many adjustments of the fly sheet, there is always a larger than average gap at the bottom. This is not such a problem in the summer, but when the wind blows, it can be drafty. I did check out the photos on the Quechua website and it's obviously meant to be like that.
