I am a 40 year old woman with 4, 6 & 8 year old son's. I can pitch this tent solo in 60 mins, without rushing whilst simultaneously watching the kids (amusing, keeping out of trouble, couple of toilet runs refereeing, emergency 1st aid'ing etc). Due to having to do everything myself I thought we'd be limited to pop-up's or much smaller tents but this Rage gives me the best of all worlds :-)
Other good points:
1. Weather not so good - we have both bedroom pods attached & the kids & I have our own space.
2. Weather fantastic - the 1 bedroom pod is big enough for 2 double airbeds so we share & have the other end of the tent wide open which is lovely.
3. Easy to repair broken poles with 'own brand' or 'what you can find on-site' spares. No specialist parts required. I can do that solo too in minutes few, it really is dead easy.
4. Excellent waterproofing. We have been out in all weathers & have never had so much as a drip.
5. Easy to dismantle but I can't get everything back in the bag myself. However, it doesn't matter if you're heading home; just throw it all in the car then pack it up properly in the garden with a folding partner.
Bad bits:
1. Nothing to hang things from. I like my hanging tent-tidies but as there's no internal frame everything has to be stored from the floor up.
2. Poles do fracture in high winds. On the up side though you end up with a bendy tent and not a collapsed one.
3. Takes a bit of practise to get the shape just right & the bedroom pods have to be at specific ends & in specific directions but there are no guides on the pods or tent shell. Once you've got this sussed mark them up yourself & the problem's solved.

Love this tent. Easy to put up which was the main selling point for us. Having a bedroom at either end of the tent means we do not wake our 2 year old when we go to bed which was a problem other campers had with tents where the rooms are side by side. Have used this tent twice now. The first time it survived a thunder and lightening storm and the second time very high winds - although one of the poles split but we didn't notice until we packed up the tent 3 days later. The winds were terrible and other campers had to sleep in their cars but our tent was still standing! Very roomy tent and the colour stands out from the other tents so was easy for our son to find us and not wander into someone else's tent!

I have to say that this is not the best tent in the world. Within 2 hours of correctly putting it up at a campsite in West Wales a pole snapped. It was a windy day, but they are not up to the standard they should be. I recently saw a very similar tent made by someone else and the poles were twice as thick and the tent stood up as it should do. I too purchased the Bergen from eBay for just £65 and even though I managed to get the pole repaired the next day (it cost me £80 for a B&B and about £10 for the pole) and have spent about 20 nights in it, it would have paid to have spent more in the first place! It is finally going to be disposed of this year as the elastic in one of the poles snapped and there are tear's on many of the seams where the wind has pulled it about too much. If you want a cheap tent to see if you like camping (or maybe put you off in this tent) then this isn't a bad option

Cannot fault this tent. It looks flimsy when you first erect it but it is stronger than it appears. It's very roomy, easy to put up, withstands strong winds and rain and the all in one sleeping compartments with two zip doors on mean that when it is warm the insects stay out whilst the mesh lets the air in. Good value for money.

Bought this tent second hand on ebay for £51, can't quibble, brilliant size, fantastic living area and the height all around the tent is excellent. Put the tent up for the first time in about an hour and that was a complete novice putting it up. Sleeping pods are warm and again spacious.
Very easy to pull down too, massive bag to place all groundsheets, tent and pods in as well as the pegs and poles.
Value for money for sure
No problems so far!

Easy to put up, withstood the wind however not the rain, the gap between bottom of tent and groundsheet is about 2 inches, it leaked. The pod bedrooms stayed dry because they are all in one and no gaps. Tested in windy and rainy conditions helped us to know this tent can withstand apart from the gap and wet patches in the living quarter

Having camped for a few years now I bought this tent in December 07 on ebay for a bargain £35.00, had I of paid the recommended retail price I would of been very angry as I only got 21 days of camping from it, before the eyelets for the tent pegs began ripping off.
As stated it is very spacious we had on some nights eight adults and eight children in it as our friends were on holiday with us (we are a family of 2 adults and 2 children) so we used one bedroom for us to sleep and the other for the kids to play in. Its very easy to pitch. The negatives are that the living area groundsheet is not fixed so it can become very drafty, and we may have bought a bad one but I would avoid at rrp or if you are looking for a tent which will last for a long time as ours didn't.

A seasoned camper I found this tent to be fantastic. 80 quid new from e bay. Very easy to put up single handed, it stood up to reasonably high winds and heavy rain no leaks, huge interior, warm bedrooms, loads of doors and ventilation for hot days. Certainly the best tent I have owned so far, but still in search of the perfect tent though.

Bought tent very cheaply from e bay and have to say am very pleased with it. Easy to erect and loads of room. Withstood very strong winds and also received some good comments from other campers with well known branded tents. Bright orange on tent a great idea as stands out in crowded pitch and at night. Overall extremely happy with this tent and would recommend.

We HAD a Rage Bergen 8 man and had 4 great camping trips. Our first thoughts were that this tent is huge, and so easy to put up and a great price for what it was until, 31st July.
We got to Towyn and the weather was quite windy, we put the tent up and as we were putting it up, a pole snapped and guy ropes snapped off too, by the end of the weekend 3 poles had snapped and the pole holder had ripped away from the tent and 4 guy ropes had ripped off, although the tent was still standing by the end of the weekend. As for leakages ours never had any and we have had 4 trips and rain throughout, so it keeps out the rain quite well. As a family we are not hardcore campers but as far as we know the winds were quite bad and the tent could have occurred these breakages because of carelessness when being put up. If this is so, the tent is a fantastic tent, just be careful in high winds. I would still recommend as a good first time tent as the space and the price cannot be beaten.
