10 Reviews of the Tromso 10
By: Njcouzens Reason: I own(ed) one Made in: 2009 Rating:
Bought this for family camping and it has served a purpose but not without much modification. During a particularly bad storm in Cornwall the whole thing came apart and we had to sleep in the car. Replacing poles wasn't too much of a problem, re-sewing each of the loops on the edges of the dome was, lengthening them by about a CM each also meant I can now put it up without hiring Geoff Capes for the weekend. Have had the tent about 4-5 years now, it's getting tatty and several of the plastic clips that keep the shape of the bedrooms have broken and I need to replace the elastic in the main poles, as well as taping up the plastic windows that have all cracked. The reason I like it though is mainly because of my customisations. I have a mat that holds down the straps that run across the front door to stop the kids flying in or out and a small windshield that I run round the outside to stop the wind.
Verdict: Good in calm weather, bring string, spare poles, spare straps, spare elastic and a huge roll of gaffer tape. Oh and the bag lasted about 20 minutes.

Nice large tent good for our family of four as we put the two kids in one pod and used the other for storage. A little complicated to pitch first time as we bought secondhand and had no instructions, but was easier and quicker the second time. It stood up really well in strong winds and heavy rain without leaking or ripping.
The only problem we had was the previous owner had put the tent away wet so it had stuck together in places meaning that when it was unpacked some of the waterproofing was damaged and there was some discolouration in places. We sprayed with waterproofer and had no more problems.
The only reason we changed it was because it was too large to fit on the serviced pitches at Freshwater Beach where we go frequently.
On a positive side when packed I didn't think it took up too much space for a tent of this size.

We've had this tent for 3 years now, camping once a year, so not heavy use. It is very heavy and does take quite a long time to put up, and is an absolute nightmare to erect in high winds as the dome acts like a parachute and my husband nearly blew away with it in North Yorkshire last year! Having said that, once erected it is very good and has withstood heavy rain and very strong winds with a lot of flapping but no serious damage. A few drips make it though the main dome in very heavy rain but not enough to be a problem and it flaps well in high winds but hasn't ripped or broken - the only damage has been some of the elastic loops come undone and fall off that you peg some of the corners down by, but the nylon loops remain and you can use those so it's been easily tethered back down. And my brother-in-law managed to break one of the poles, but I suspect that was due to heavy-handedness as we haven't had a problem with them. The poles and their slots are colour coded so it's straight-forward to put up once you know what you're doing! It has plenty of space inside, both in the bedrooms and the main dome, with a hook in the centre to hang a light from and plenty of room to walk around a table & chairs plus all your gear.

Horrible quality tent. Shock cord snapped on one pole the first time we assembled it. Flimsy material, gaping spaces around the flysheet when pegged out. Flimsy guy lines supplied. Vent flaps thin with few options unlike a Coleman, Gelert or Outwell. Bedroom pods hang like cheap supermarket carrier bags. Pole pins were not at all secure and kept jumping out. Didn't sleep in it and have retrieved it from the bin where my OH dumped it just to try and get Tentastic to refund us. Paid £150, you'd have to pay me to try another Rage tent.

I bought my tent off Ebay and for the money I paid for it (around the £100 mark)I have been more than happy with it.
I have been camping in this tent 3 times now -okay not a massive ammount but it has seen some rough weather on it's outings!
This tent is very spacious and the central dome is ideal if it's raining outside some minute drips but no serious leaks. It can be a bit flappy in the wind as it does not have a sewn in ground sheet and the panels could do with a center peg to stop the draughts. The bedrooms were roomy and comfy with no leaks.
I don't feel like this tent will last ages and don't think I would have been so happy had I paid the full price but as I said for the money I paid for it this tent was spot on.

We bought tent on internet. Found it to be very spacious plenty of room for kids to play in. Found it easy to put up as all poles are colour coded. Only problem I had with this tent is that when it is torrential rain it leaks in

Struggled with putting it up,found some of the tags ripped easy,no fitted ground sheet , due to lack of good instructions found hard to fit the separate ground sheet. No middle tags so found the outer sheet didnt come snug to ground, though inner bed rooms and inner dome were roomy. Carrying bag ripped easily too

Lovely tent, spacious and light as long as there is not much wind.
My hubby and I bought one, and on the last day of camping, the wind was bad and the tent tore itself apart.
We then ordered repair kit and new poles and were delighted to receive a full tent (By mistake?).
We camped in the new tent and within 2 days, the tent had to be tied down with gaffa tape and boot laces, so was in worse condition than the original.
We have also used this tent for camping in brilliant sunshine, and it was great - lovely and light inside the huge dome which quickly became a very sociable area in rain.
I would only recommend this tent if you are certain that there will be no high winds.
Also, another down side is that there are no tags in the centre or anything that can be used to tie up a light.

We bought this tent and like many other people, erected it in the garden first. All appeared to be ok and we were looking forward to our week of camping August bank holiday. We arrived at our site on a very wet and windy afternoon and with myself, my husband and two children struggled to put it up. So much so that we had to have help from two other people. Once up, we started to blow airbeds up and transfer our belongings from the car. It was still very windy and as a gust of wind got under the tent (as the groundsheet is not sewn in) it ripped several nylon peg hooks. These were un-repairable in the circumstances and left us feeling very disheartened and wet. The bag also ripped very easily. I would not buy one again or recommend it to friends and family. We ended up buying another brand with sewn in groundsheet and alloy poles. A lot more reliable.

We bought this tent (like most people) from ebay for £100 and considered this to be a bargain as they retail at £269.99
When the tent was delivered we put it up in the garden to check it over and I had to go online to get details of how to erect it as the instructions are useless, in the process I did stumble across a few reviews that didn't sound good so was concerned we had made a mistake.
We have just returned from a VERY wet and windy week in Aberystwyth and the tent has done itself proud. We did have a pole snap on the first night but managed to carry out repairs. 8 of us slept in the tent very comfortably, in the biggest bedroom we were able to fit 2 double air beds. There is plenty of room for the kids to play in the main area even with a table and blow up sofa in there as well. The only bad thing I would say is the ground sheet is not sewn in and we did get a few leaks but as the rain was torrential some nights I think this is very good.
