5 Reviews of the Vikna

I have had this tent for a number of years now, It has been used in thunder storms and gales and has coped really well staying dry and upright.
It was quite hard to erect at first but now I can erect this tent in around one hour by myself, The bedrooms are a bit on the small side for 6 people but it can be done.
I would recommend this tent as it is such value for money.

I have a rage vikna tent and think its amazing value for money.
My first tent was a small 2 man rage tent that my then girlfriend and I (now wife) bought from ebay for about £30 and went camping for the weekend,
First day there it absolutely threw it down with rain and near on flooded the campsite with gale force winds leaving so many people with washed out tents and side flapping in the wind,
But ours was still standing proud in amongst these large expensive tents and completely bone dry inside.
This then made me buy the Rage Vikna ( I didn't really do much research online like nowadays just bought because of experience) well I am just as impressed with this tent as I was with the first.
We are not really experienced campers only going once or twice but now have the bug and starting to go more often.
We have been in horrendous rain and not had a leak strong winds and it stands up no probs, so spacious inside due to its shape when you leave out the third bedroom ( my kids share)
My only gripe about the tent is the door is 1.45cm high so you have to bend down to get in but not really a problem.
I have just bought a front extension for it making it a truly massive 8m long tent ( extension not made by rage but for an Atlanta 6/8 tent ) tent carpet from eBay 4m x 4m making it a very comfortable and very cosy family tent to own without paying mega bucks.
All in all for £280 including the extension tent and carpet, I'm super happy.

We had the misfortune to have this tent as our first ever tent! Not good. It says that it takes 2 people to erect.NO you need a third to go under the tent to push the middle up. The room inside is terrible for a 6man dome tent. The bedrooms are too small and you can only stand up straight in the very centre. I'm 5ft 7in so not that tall really and I had trouble. You have to bend in half to get in and out of the tent as the porch area and other doors are made for the 7 dwarfs and not anyone who is of average size.
As the ground sheet isn't sewn in you get kind of a wind tunnel effect when there is even the slightest breeze.
When it rains outside it pours inside.
If your looking for a really cheap tent then this is for you. Perfect if you are very short and will be camping in very dry still weather.
Personally I found this of very poor quality and wouldn't recommend to my worse enemy.
We only had one trip in ours and it nearly put us off camping for life. Needless to say we got rid asap after.

Fairly easy to erect would be helpful if you had more than the minimum of 2 that is recommended. Did not stand up to any kind of strong breeze (poles inverted and the rain seeped in) even after re pegging. Had to cut my holiday short due to rain leaking in despite using fabsil/nikwax when the weather was fair! Will not be buying another rage tent or using this one again.

Plenty of room inside the tent, 3 sleeping pods are a decent size for 1 person or at a push 2 children, but personally I dont think that 6 adults would be able to sleep comfortably in the tent.
The instructions where not easy to follow which made putting the tent up the 1st time a long drawn out process.
Fly sheet makes up the main part of the tent and you then add the 3 sleeping pods in.
Good sized ground sheet which fits well in front of the sleeping pods.
Because the ground and fly sheet are separate it does mean that if it is windy your find it quiet draughty and if you have heavy rain - like we did for about 5 hours then you will find that the middle part of the tent could well flood - BUT the sleeping pods stayed dry.
A tip is when you go out / or go to bed make sure that anything that you do not want to get wet you move up off the ground - especially if rain is forecast.
Great tent if it stays dry - not so good if it rains!
It says that it provides a over sized bag - well I have been camping for over 15 years and this is the first tent that I have never been able to get back in the bag all together. All that goes back in the bag (and only just) is the tent itself I have to keep the poles and pegs separate.
