We bought our tent from tentastic and paid £52, we like many were not sure if the children would enjoy the whole camping experience. We actually have 2, the first one arrived damaged, it looked like a knife had been run straight through it, but tentastic had it replaced within days. We took it to a little park in St Lawrence bay Essex (not too far from home so we could get back easily if it all went wrong) where we were pitched was a bit of a breezy area, and although the tent flapped about a bit it was sturdy and firm.

We had a little condensation to start with but actually dried out and wasn't a problem after that, it rained the first night as well, and I was pleased we all stayed dry, Our second outing was an overnight trip for my birthday at the local campsite, it rained from early evening right through to the next morning, everything stayed beautifully dry.

My only bad point was that I could not get it to peg down evenly, some of the tent pegged perfectly and sealed beautifully but other areas were really up and loose and it didn't matter how you pegged or adjusted everything it still wouldn't.

Overall though we were very happy with our tent, and apart from a little tear (we did it taking it down the last time) which we will repair, we're hoping to get away in it again this year.

Was very big inside

We bought this tent for £65 from ebay as we wanted to join a group of friends camping and didn't know if we'd like it or not. The tent took us novices around 1 hour to erect and looked pretty good.

It was a dry August weekend with chilly evenings and the tent had loads of condensation which dripped in the central area in the mornings somewhat but the bedrooms were fine, cosy in fact.

On our second camping trip the weather was mild on the first night and it was very pleasant in the tent. The second night was much colder and the tent was covered in condensation and when it rained the following morning the rain forced the condensation to drip inside the tent - this even went through into the bedrooms and so we decided enough was enough and we discarded the tent in the nearest appropriate place.

We did however decide that we loved camping and have upgraded to an Outwell tent.

I would say that if you pay less than £80 and can guarantee fine, mild, dry weather then this tent would be a bargain, however if you pay full RRP and expect it to stand up to more severe weather you will be very disappointed.

I bought one of these tents from ebay, can't remember which seller, and took it to Ullswater in the lake district spring bank holiday 2007. Here follows a list of faults.

1. One of the poles snapped as we were putting it up.

We were lucky that someone offered us a spare for the price of a pint.

2. Although the pitch was flat, we couldn't get it to look straight.

3. Within ten minutes of putting up the tent, both bedrooms had managed to come completely away from the tent inner because of snapped elastics.

4. On the first night, there was a bit of a breeze blowing in off the lake. Now when I say breeze, that is what I mean. The tent shook itself to bits, ripped in several places; and myself, my 2 daughters and our black labrador all ended up sleeping in the back of my Alfa Romeo sportwagon. Although Alfa did not design the 156 to be camped in, it did a hell of a lot better job for us that that pathetic excuse for a tent. We were dry, warm; and the car did not fall to bits in the late spring breeze.

The tent is now covering one of my husband's outdoor woodworking machines. Maybe that explains why the electrics keep going haywire???

We bought ours from Tentastic via e-bay, on the first use in the Lake District, it rained for about 4 hours, not heavily, and the tent might not have been there it leaked so much, we ended up packing up the same day. Tentastic gave excellent customer service and gave a full refund, including P&P. Would recommend Tentastic but not Rage tents.

Like Lesley38 I got my tent from Tentastic on EBay but got it for an incredible bargain price of £35.

I have recently returned from a camping trip to France where the tent got a thorough workout. The tent was very spacious though I had problems setting up the main dome straight, however I suspect this was due to being extremely tired and lack of practice.

The tent performed fine until we got a 12 hour long thunderstorm. During this the tent leaked like a sieve. I put this down to the fact the rain was coming down in torrents. But a couple of days later we then had a wet day and again the tent leaked and dripped over everything. The water pooled on the tent in places and didn't seem to penetrate the cloth. The water was coming in around the seams.

I ended up getting a large polythene sheet from the local hardware shop and fixing it over the top of the tent with clothes pegs. After which the rain ceased to be an issue. Though it was not exactly pretty it saved the holiday as the weather continued to be changeable. I am very glad I didn't pay the full RRP or I would have been livid.

I can only conclude the seams of the tent are badly waterproofed despite being taped and double stitched.

This would be a great tent if only it was watertight.

Unfortunately this is a major failing in a tent in my opinion. I wouldn't recommend using this tent for any long term camping holiday where you couldn't be certain of good weather.

I will be attempting to remedy this by treating the tent with a waterproofing spray in the near future in a last ditch attempt to save me having to buy a new tent. If I succeed I will enter an update.

** CHECKED _ NOT THIS TENT

We had the 8 berth, bought it from tentastic, what a waste of money,it was doomed from the time it came out the box,the elastic broke before we even put the tent up, the middle sections ripped, the elastic taping ripped, the poles split, the bedroom rings ripped away from the tent,we had a week booked for school holidays but the tent lasted 2 days, had to come home early.Got full refund. The good thing about this tent was the space

We have just returned from our first trip with our new rage volda 6dx tent which we bought of ebay for the bargain price of £70, from tentastic.

After some advice from this site and a practice run at home we found the tent straightforward to put up, although it is easier with three people as one person can get into the middle of the tent whilst the other two pin in the poles.

The ring and pin method was something new to us and a little difficult at first, but the trick is to locate the pins and push into the bottom of each pole then peg down the ring with a metal tent peg.

The ground sheet was located in the middle of the tent and was best pinned down before the outer poles were pinned down.

We then placed a groundsheet in the front porch area and under each sleeping compartment even though they had sewn in ones.

It was roomy and great to be able to store all our equipment in the third empty sleeping compartment.

The only problem we had with the tent was after a very frosty cold night we had a lot of condensation inside the tent in the morning. We are wondering if we need to adjust the groundsheets so that they stop the cold air getting in under the sides of the tent.

Overall a great 6 berth bargain tent
