Fantastic quality and in principle a great tent. We subjected it to the remnants of a hurricane third week of August 2012 in Polperro.

It was severe weather. The zips had a minor leak, not really a problem.

However the groundsheet is a bathtub, toggled on to the tent rather than sewn in. The wind blew so hard it blew through the gap and made us a little damp. We've upgraded to a Robens Cabin 600 which does have a sewn in ground sheet. Used it last weekend. Some rain but no hurricane. It was fantastic. A Happy Camper.

It is the perfect 'car-camping' tent for us - we have used smaller tents in the past but decided to splash out on something bigger with standing headroom. We have also bought a kitchen unit, stove and big mattresses to make living easier.

The tent is simple and straight forward to erect - just three poles and four pegs to have it standing; more pegging is necessary to make the tent secure. The colour-coded poles make the whole process easy. It is possible to pack it with the inner and ground sheet attached - ready for instant pitching. Ours is a mid-green colour with neutral coloured inner, this is pleasant to live in. The windows are small but with the various door combinations it is possible to have a view from inside in most weather conditions.

We are a couple with a small amount of gear - I would not like to share it with four adults; perhaps Mum, Dad and two rug rats.

It's a good design, but the instructions state it must be trial pitched to see if it leaks on the seams as it may need sealing, so I did and it did ! None of the taped seams leaked which is good, but it did get through some stitching above the plastic windows where you roll the inner screen up and fasten out of the way. These are a rubbery plastic material with a canvas inner and it was wicking through in heavy rain. I've taken to using McNett seam sealer on their edges and holes and have yet to be rained on to try it again. The zip runners also got the same treatment as the velcro baffles were flapping a bit in the wind on the outer flysheet. At half the price of a Vango Nevis I consider this a baragin and am quite happy to do a bit of DIY sealing. The pitch size isn't huge either as the very reflective guylines don't need huge angles to make the tent secure, but 6 longer alloy tent pegs have been bought for the pole end positions, and I've replaced all the other steel pegs for lighter alloy ones for guyline pegging. The storage bag is really nice and all the separate bits have their own bags too. Couldn't get a footprint for love nor money to protect the thin sleeping pod sewn in groundsheets so I used the on-line dimension pictures and matched it to a Vango of similar shape for the sum of £22.The 2010 version has smaller windows than the 2011 version which I don't like anyway, plastic doesn't like being creased too many times so the smaller the better if you ask me !

This tent was purchased in 2005 to replace a Kyham Tourer 400 which was stolen.

In comparison to the Kyham it is a dream to own. It's light and compact when packed away and very straightforward and simple to erect. It has just 3 aluminium poles which means that it pitches in a jiffy and is just as easy to dismantle. It can be pitched fly sheet first and one or both of the separate bedrooms added afterwards or it can be pitched all in one go with the bedrooms already attached for speed. This makes the tent very versatile indeed.

The build quality is excellent and the tent is well thought out too. After five years' hard camping it is still watertight and all the poles, zippers, seams, guy ropes and pegging points are still intact.

On the downside, being a tunnel tent, it is susceptible to strong winds and needs locating carefully and pegging down well in bad weather. The Kyham was like a rock in comparison. Having said this it has never let us down even in some frighteningly strong gales although it does do a good impression of a blancmange in high winds!

Overall, it is a superbly well thought out design and I would not hesitate to buy another one when our eventually gives up the ghost.
