4 Reviews of the Kiowa

I love this tent. It has a fun element that make me feel like a kid again. I love the open plan aspect as do the kids (though my wife wants the inner tent). It is very well designed and easy to put up, though erecting the tent with the central pole does require some strength. I like that one can unzip the groundsheet, only because it saves sweeping up and thus you can be as messy as you like, just unzip and shake, put back and jobs a good'un. I got the tent on offer and part of that offer I got a carpet and a footprint. I have yet to use the footprint but will do if I find myself on rough ground, but have uses the carpet and it does indeed give that touch of luxury. I recently bought a wood stove for it. I have not used it yet but I am absolutely gagging to do so. It is great for family camping, but I would suggest that, if you purchase one, you buy yourself a tarp and some poles and a windbreak (the latter of which I still need to get) to make a kitchen in the case of inclement weather. If you want a cool looking tent then this should be on the list. The added porch is very useful for shoes etc, and makes it look and feel like an igloo albeit with a peaked hat. My final point is that I feel that this tent will last a lifetime.

Just completed our first family camping trip in the new Kiowa (2 adults and three children). First impressions are that we're all very impressed. Easy to pitch, very sturdy in the wind, no leaks (unless something touches the inside of the flysheet) and comfortable in a range of temperatures. The extra porch area is what sold this tent to us over some of the other Robens tipi style tents and it really does make a difference - at the very least it's somewhere dry to remove shoes etc.
We bought the carpet which adds extra comfort and insulation but didn't bother with the inner rooms as we prefer the open-plan style of the tent. We have also purchased the Kobuk tent stove. We have so far only used this outside under our tarp (we were still waiting for a fireproof mat to use inside the tent), but it is really excellent and is a very capable stove. Will update this review once we have tried the stove on the inside.
This tent is excellent value when you compare it to other cotton tents. We are however considering getting an additional popup shelter such as the Vango Airhub Hex as an additional room for cooking/eating/socialising.

We bought one of these a fortnight ago from Go Outdoors in Shrewsbury, the manager (Lawrence) did us a great deal, tent, inner compartment and Volcano stove for £835
We previously owned a very large Outwell tunnel tent, during a hol in the South of France, the temp went to 55C (polyester fabric-non breathable) you could feel the difference instantly in the display tents, far cooler, without the cloying heat.
We're off for a long weekend, so will let you know how it goes-with pics naturally 😎

Almost identic to the Outwell Indian Lake. Easier to pitch as the little roof is already attached.
No footprint available but you can still find the one for the Indian Lake - identic measurements!
Used four days in sunny but cold weather in the Mountains. Covered with ice in the morning - no problem. A thunderstorm in the afternoon with some hail - no problem. But the wind was not that bad.
Very comfortable and big inside, compared to what I had before (and still have).
Update will follow after next use.

Manufacturer's Description
The Kiowa tipi sleeps up to ten people and provides a large living space and front porch. The zip-in groundsheet has a zip to the centre alloy pole, enabling it to be rolled away at the door to create a safe area in which to use the optional stove and place wet gear. The neat Internal Apex Vent Control that can be easily opened and closed from inside works with the large mesh panels behind the zip-open windows to control airflow while keeping bugs out.
