I've had this tent for a couple of years now. It's been OK, but it's probably not going to last forever.
It does get a lot of use, and it is fairly easy to pitch, even for one person.
It has a lot of pegs, 32 in total, which can be challenging on less than perfect ground.
I have the stove and the carpet, and the groundsheet. It has limited water protection, and leaks a fair bit in heavy rain. In storms I had to improvise extra guys to bolster the existing ones which kept pulling out of the ground.
The guy ropes have started fraying and need replacing quite often.
The A frame leaks, and I haven't a solution yet as I'm not sure if it's caused by coming through the top, or soaking through the fabric.
I have had this tent up in some dreadful weather, with 4cm of rain in an hour, and high winds, which have certainly tested it. Water will soak through the bathtub base in those conditions, although to be fair, a boat might have been the preferred accommodation.
It is noisy in high winds, and flaps a fair bit. Finding sheltered places to pitch might help but I honestly can't see it getting anywhere near the 135kmh wind rating without failure of the guy loops. They're too small and not well stitched.
I really enjoy living and cooking inside this tent with the stove and the chimney and it feels very natural and enjoyable, however the stove burns quickly, probably a max of 2 hours, and then you're left with a. Hole in the roof which allows the heat to escape pretty quickly, so good sleeping bags are essential in winter. The stove warms the tent really quickly, but you'll go through a bag of wood every day easily, and if you choke off the fire using the flue chokes or the air dampers, you'll get major creosote build up on the chimney, which needs disassembling and cleaning daily, if damping is used.
I actually love this tent and so do my kids. It's not perfect, but it feels like a home in the field.

This beautiful and rather expensive tent has three wholes by design. The front zippers (vertical, two horizontals, and bottom) when fully closed leave a whole of approximately 3-4cm diameter. Further, there are two additional wholes on either sides at the front which remain open and do not close. Mice, snakes and bugs can easily come into the tent through these wholes. Apparently, during the single time we used the tent, we found more than 30 earwigs in the tent and while the tent was closed properly.
When I emailed Robens, they responded the following:
'That is the design due to the opportunity to open the floor. It has the cost of the small gaps. You could use a piece of tape over it at night if you want it to be closed. '
I found their response insulting. This company knows that their products have design defects and neither do they inform the consumer about them, nor do they do something to fix them.
On the positive side, the fact that the tent is made of canvas, makes it very pleasant to sleep at night as the material is very breathable. However, because of the open wholes that pose a safety risk, we decided to return the tent.
Thankfully the retailer company in Sweden accepted the tent back and paid us full refund about it.

After our third season of our main family holiday 2 week holiday in the Klondike, and occasional weekends, we remain impressed.
To be fair, most of it’s use has been in mid France, but it has been in moderate winds and heavy thunderstorms with no problems, and no obvious deterioration other than slight fading of the polycotton, and a very little fuzz on the guys. I did fit line-loks from new, though, and almost never use without the carpet and thick footprint.
It works very well for our small family of three, using camp beds, and has very manageable pack size.

This is my third and final review of this tent . This tent is now two and half years old and has been a lot of trouble , the latest problems are . The base of the A pole sleeves have destroyed the waterproof coating on the groundsheet which is also delaminating in other areas ,This tent has always been used with a carpet and footprint .
While on holiday the stitching on the guy line tabs on the vent cap failed and converted our tent into an indoor shower room !The vent cap design has always been a source of problems ,even when fitted correctly the wind will cause the cover to creep up and expose the mesh .
I have had to reproof the whole tent to keep the rain out .
Yes we have used the tent a lot but its young to reproof it.
I feel the quality ,design ,materials and manufacture is inferior to some other brands .
When I had my door zip re stitched (see earlier review ) The company that did the work was a sail makers with over 100years of experience ,he was very critical of the materials and poor construction and lack of reinforcement in high stress areas .He told me the tent won't have a very long life . Because of all the problems I have had and Robens lack of any kind of customer care I cant recommend this tent .
I will now be using my lightweight ( alloy frame ) Raclet framr tent I bought in 1985 used all the time until 2007, I then started using modern tents and the Raclet was only used once a year .The only thing that ever broke on it was two rubber loops that hold the vent cover down .All original guy lines ,pegs etc . The 32 year old Raclet is in better condition than my 2.5 year old Robens ,says it all .

Great tent. Same faults.As other users. Water leak at A frame at door in heavy rain and windy. Going to wrap frame with bike tyre inner tube. If that doesn't work will change to single pole,. Two clamps and guy ropes cured roof flap problem. Found using stove keep flue cover tight and don't let heat guard stick out to high. When stove cools wrap flue pipe with a towel. This catches the small amount of water. Still love this tent.

Having owned a Karsten it was always going to be difficult to find something that was anywhere near as good.
If My shoulders didn't need replacing I would have kept the Karsten but at 34Kg I just couldn't lift it!
After owning that I knew the replacement had to be cotton or poly-cotton, trying to find somewhere that actually had them pitched was the main problem, I did find the smaller Robens Fairbanks actually pitched at Crowland caravans and once I had felt the poly-cotton material that was good enough for me.
They also have a few of the Cabanon cotton tents pitched and these are great tents but again, the weight issue came back to haunt me.
Crowland actually had the Klondike tent, carpet and inner all in stock and they did me a fantastic package deal!Its a shame they don't have more on display but people are going round looking at what they do have and then buy them on line, you only have to ask to see if you can get a deal, its also very useful to ask advice and have a point of return if needed.
Anyway went out the first time start of July, found the tent very easy and straight forward to pitch.
Very pleased I had the Quecha tarp as we spent most of the time under that.There were a few days of very heavy constant rain and no leaks at all.
When it was hot the low level vents and the oddly operated roof vent did really help in keeping the inside cool and that roof vent really didn't give us any bother you just need to remember to set it up correctly before putting the pole up or you won't get to any of it.
We did use the inner tent as there is only the two of us and it just made it feel that little bit warmer.
It does drastically reduce the space inside the tent and its a odd shape, but for the two of us and our gear it worked out really well.
It wouldn't really bother us not using the inner, the Karsten didn't have one so used to that.
The ground sheet is much thinner than the Karsten, but as we use a small footprint its not too much problem, but something to be aware of, hence I dropped a point for that and not having a dedicated footprint for it.
The carpet has a split from center to outer edge which is held together with Velcro so once the tent is up, the carpet can be put down and fitted around the center pole.
The inner sits on the carpet so a few good layers of protection.
As you look into the tent the right hand side inner can be unzipped and rolled up to the left hand side which will give more space in the tent, but the bedroom pod would be small for out SIMS and all of our gear.
I have uploaded lots of photos to try and give indications of the size inside with the inner in position and two XL SIMS in place.
Overall very pleased and happy with this purchase, if I had the strength to lift the Karsten I wouldn't of sold it on, but this, at less than half the weight is a very good compromise and suits our needs.

Just my comments:
- Leaks on the 'A' frame: we have replaced this with a single pole.
- Leaks through chimney hole - we have made a aluminium shroud around the flue above the tent that diverts most rain
- The black flaps around the top: we added another guy line loop to this so we can pull it down.
It's a nice tent - to bad none of the designers bothered to test it in rain and wind.

Have had this tent for over a year now and have used it in the winter and summer. I have the wood burning stove and seriously wouldn't be without it!Have had five adults and 3 dogs in it when it is cold and everyone comments on how toasty it is. The best tent I have ever owned - easy to put up and with the stove it is fabulous. Just looking for an awning now to fit over the front and extend the living area.

An update of my original review.I have still not had any reply from Robens and that's after I sent them a few more emails ,It's now been over three months .
In reply to Mozshop 70 problems .Replace the guy line runners so you can tension the tent properly . My tent leaks mostly from the RH A pole looking from the outside .I have cut thin rings of pipe insulation to go over the A frame to space it from the canvas .I can't tell you if this is effective as the last few times we have used the tent it has not rained !
I don't use a wood burner in my tent but your problem with water running down the flue pipe might be solved by making a cowling to fit above the flue pipe insulated
Section ( do not obstruct the top of the flue pipe ).
Any other tips to resolve the problems with the Klondike would be good .

We used the tent over the 6 week summer holiday in the UK.
Good points : Great when you add the woodburing stove- lovely and toasty.
Very stylish, especially when you add bunting and lights.
Loads of space for family of three.
Easy to put up.
Could do better bits:
The tent has two major design faults, firstly the tent does leak as the A frame rubs against fabric in wind and rain. Secondly, the baffle which protects the tent from the chimney pipe lets in bucket loads of water when the stove has cooled. The water comes through the holes higher up the baffle and then flows out the bottom. It isn't an issue when the stove is on.
Roben have a customer service e-mail service. It is useless as I put these faults to them and they did not acknowledge that there was an issue or give any advice abut how to resolve the leaking.
If anyone has a Klondike and has solved these issues please post a response.
Finally, the additions such as carpet and tarp are difficult to buy and are very expensive.
