3 Reviews of the Vista 500

I have owned one of these tents for a couple of years now and am very pleased with it. I have never had any problems with leakage or condensation. Has withstood even storm force winds with no problems. I was worried how hot it would be as it doesn't have as much ventilation as some other tents, but thanks to the quality of the polycotton, even in 40 degrees plus, it was surprisingly cool inside.
We bought it as a small weekend tent for our family of five which I could pitch myself with some help from our small children. We can just about fit inside the bedroom, and it takes me around 15 minutes to pitch, with a couple of minutes help from a small child (I am 5'5' female). I can clip the main poles in by unzipping the tent door(so I am not standing on the canvas) and pulling down on the pole slightly (there is some elasticity to it)and working outwards from the central clip. (Standing on a folding caravan step or similar would make this easier for a shorter person.)
We usually use the tent with a Yukon 4 canopy, which fits nicely and gives us extra dry space (has proved stormproof so far!).

Robens Vista 500
We got this tent to replace the Vista 300 which we felt was to small for us ( we like the extra room ).
Ok the Vista tent range will leak! For a while it has to get wet and dry about 3 times before it stops its all to do with the fabric its made from.
We made that phone call after the 300 leaked so we used the hose in the garden on the 500’ 100% leak proof now.
Setting up don’t peg all four corners down peg the front only it make it a lot easier to get the centre pole set up saving walking across the tent we leave the pegging of the back until last.
We have used this tent in all weathers now and it stands its ground would I recommend it YES.
Robens Have now replaced the 500 with the 600 the living area in the 600 is 6 inches smaller than the 500 the sleeping area is the same I don’t understand that!. The 600 has a blackout inner and a couple of other mods.

We bought our Robens Vista 500 tent and have just returned from 3 weeks camping in the Picos Mountains. We are seasoned campers having owned a Cabanon tent for the last 15 years. The good and the bad points of this tent are :
Good
Canopy over front very useful in sun and rain - kept rain off front of tent.
Very spacious and airy - plenty of room to sit on bad weather days.
Let plenty of light in due to two large side windows.
Clever design of inner tent which enabled the sleeping compartment to have just a fine mesh - great on hot nights.
Loved the integral tent tidy
Bad
It leaked ! - VERY BAD. As mentioned, we have camped in most European mountains in our Cabanon tent and it never leaked once. This tent let water in on both front seams and both middle seams - not what you expect from a tent retailing at £849. We intend to speak to Robens this week to discuss.
Most definitely not an easy tent to erect for two people. The two main poles do not slide through sleeves, but need to be fixed via clips. Neither of us are over 6 foot tall and we really struggled to get these clips attached.

Manufacturer's Description
This is the bigger version for up to five people, who can settle down for the night in our extremely popular universal inner tent. You can use it as one big room, close the zip partition and make it into two separate cabins, or, if you need more storage room, one half of the inner tent can also be removed, to make room for bicycles, for example. Both models have a completely closeable floor sewn onto the flysheet, which seals off the tent from wind, bugs and dust.
Flysheet: Hydrotex Polycotton (65% cotton / 35% polyester) Inner tent: Polycotton (35% cotton / 65% polyester) Groundsheet: Oxford 210T 100% polyester Tarpaulin PVC coated with sealed seams, 3000 mm Poles: Alloy DAC #7001, T6, 13/14/16 mm, anodised Max/Min. load: App. 20.4 / 19.6 kg Pack size: 72 x 39 cm Sleeps: 5 persons Characteristics: Quality touring tent with sewn-in groundsheet
