6 Reviews of the Vista 600

Have used this tent for me and my wife and my dog. Can't fault it in hot or rainy weather. Rigid structure easy to set up despite not having colour codes, as the DAC pole hubs denote which thickness of pole fits anyway. Not experienced any of the minor problems mentioned in other posts. We have added some guy glo illuminated attachments to the guy ropes so our dog doesn't walk into them. The Robens website never said that the guy ropes were illuminated as mentioned in a previous post but the guys only need to be set once and remain taut. Excellent tent and would highly recommend.

I have the Robens Vista 600 and am very pleased with the overall features of the tent. My model has a full velcro sealed door which based on other reviews seems to be an improvement on some of the earlier models. The tent also has a full mesh door on the main entrance. The big plus about this tent is the poly cotton material which does two things. When it is cold outside it tends to maintain a degree of warmth inside and when it is warm outside it tends to feel a touch cooler inside especially during a warm day. The material doesn't move like synthetic tents in the wind and is extremely resilient.

When packing up, we were able to wipe the tent down with a towel to ensure the tent was totally dry prior to packing away with a degree of ease. The DAC pole system the tent comes with makes the main frame and eyebrows of the tent a really sturdy tent which just doesn't move and is a cinch to set up ideally with two people.

The living area is spacious for me and my wife and our pooch whether it be to sit at a table and play a game of Scrabble or sit and dine. I am not convinced that this would be suitable for 6 people as recommended.

Based on some of the dimensions that Robens have on their floor plan for the tent, I have not taken a tape measure to the specific measurements but feel that the measurements of the inner section is sleighltly exaggerated.

Many of the other features demonstrated in a Robens You Tube clip are true to form. Somehow, I was fortunate to acquire this tent at a formidable price of £749.99 including free delivery which in my opinion was a steal.

I don't think that we will need another tent in our life time, and I am only in my early 40's LOL. I would strongly recommend this tent as a great base tent for any holiday in the UK.

We use this tent for only two of us.(because we always end up taking too much stuff) Very easy and quick to put up with two, loads of space.

Held up very well in torrential wind/rain/sleet/snow but is equally as good in hot sunny weather.

We bought this to replace our large Khyam and it's so much better, would never go back to a polyester tent again!

We also have a 5m bell tent but tend to use this as the weight/pack size is about half.

If we ever need to by a new one(highly unlikely as this tent is so well made) we would definitely by another Robens.

We took several seasons deliberating over whether to buy this tent. It was way more than we had spent on a tent before. Having camped in it for 20 nights this year, we can confirm it was a good buy.

First off, space. Because of the tent's design, all of the space is useful (Our Vango Orchy was supposedly the same size, but much of the tent was either low height or space around a sloping doorway. At 6'1.5', I didn't have the problems Roben2 had with headroom, but could see I would not want to be taller. The shelter in front of the door is great, and means rain doesn't come in just by going in or out of the tent.

Pitching time - we arrived at one camp site later than intended at 9pm. We had the tent completely up, beds in and were sitting down to dinner by 9.30pm. Whilst that was partly us being organised, the tent is basically up in 10 minutes flat, and doesn't need many guys. On our first camp, the tent was put up by my 13 & 11 year old kids (who had practiced at home first).

Weight / packed space. It is half the weight and pack size of our old Vango Diablo, but still sufficiently big for 2 weeks away. This means more boot space for other things, and the possibility of using the tent for weekend camps too.

I really like the polycotton material, but would warn anyone to expect to season it in rain / under a hose beforehand: it will leak alarmingly to begin with, but is afterwards waterproof. New buyers should also prepare for extra care in drying a tent out before putting it away.

A couple of minor gripes - the guys are not see in the dark (as stated), and have faded already, whilst the zipping of the front door can be a bit fiddly as the cover where they meet tends to get in the way. It stills workd better than our Diablo ever did however, as guy tension does not get in the way.

A great tent!

The Robens 600 Vista is a good solid polycotton tent. To date it has not leaked once and has proven to be very stable. Easy to put up with 2 people, but with long arms one person can also manage! Every time a walk round I wonder at the lack of guy ropes. There are some but as the tent is pretty much self supporting it doesn’t need that many.

Ventilation is good but even with 2 people it’s best to open most of the vents at night or you will get a little condensation just outside the sleeping area. With most of the vents open or partly open this is no problem. Blackout material I the bedrooms help keep the onset of morning to a reasonable time, but could be useful to be a little lower at the sides. The wide door is great and very useful for when setting up and leaving site.

When choosing this tent it was a choice of the Outwell Troutlake 6, Outwell Newgate 5 and this one. I know I made the right choice now because the weight on the Robens is so much lighter due to its technical spec. The Vista 600 weighs 20.8 kg in total against the Troutlake 6 at Tent: 18.0 kg + Poles: 15.7kg, or the Newgate 5 Tent: 24.0 kg & Poles: 19.7 kg. Weight was not a prime consideration at the time but when you carry the tent you will know why it is, unless you have a big bodybuilder friend!

The only reason I score this tent 8/10 rather than 10 is the height. At 6’2.5” I can just stand up, at first I thought it was the garden when I first put it up, but a flat level sight confirms that the height measurements provided for the tent are not correct! I did ask a major retailer who confirmed that the measurements were all for inside the tent and inner tent. Unless mine is a one off this is not the case! I would fully recommend trying before buying if you are my height or above. It’s a great tent.Just not as tall as it says it is.

This tent is great for a family of four (two young children). The only reason it doesn't score higher is lack of instructions ( sorted due to an internet video). Guy lines are fiddly to attach first time as they are all different lengths. Also the coloured pole stickers are already peeling off after one night in the rain. ( Easy to fix but disappointing). On the positive side, it rained very heavily on the first night out and we remained lovely and dry, and the polycotton was so quiet, no flapping about ! See uploaded picture.
