6 Reviews of the Avignon 6 Plus
By: Joy buckley Reason: I own(ed) one Made in: 2006 Rating:
The tent is huge which is great for families and couples alike
Large living area and the awning at the front extends space in good weather.
It does take at least 2 people to pitch the tent and it gets easier every time you do it. A definite routine is needed.
3 bedrooms means that people can have their own space or as we use when camping without children, a storage area and dressing room, something I don't get at home.
One tip is make sure you slacken off the ground sheet and bedroom clips when you pack it away.
The only 1 problem I suggest is that it would be great if the ground sheet was one that was sewn in as part of the tent and not one that you have to clip to the fly sheet. It can flap a little in windy weather.
We have used it in bright, hot sunny weather and windy downpours and at all times it has remained intact and kept us cosy.
We really love this tent.

Great tent. We are a family of four but often go away in big groups and there is room for visitors. We were able to cook and have our large camping table inside out of the wind and rain. No probs putting up the tent but we have been camping for many years. The last tent we had blew down three days into the holiday this one has stood up to strong winds with ease. We brought this tent second hand for £100 and it has been great value for money.

I bought an Avignon mainly for the space and for this reason only I applaud it!
After 1 trip the 'key' in the internal stabiliser pole would not work and another pole snapped , even though we did not experience any bad weather at all! Tried to get poles replaced and dealer did not have spares (waited 2 weeks for them to arrive did not come) ended up demanding a new tent and got given the Bordeaux 6 which is similar but more expensive.
The Avignon takes some getting used to pitching and is impossible if you do not have 2 people minimum although I have taken it down and packed it away on my own easily - erection takes about an hour.
Apart from my problems with the poles (which turned out to be the wrong ones anyway!) I would recommend this tent for space.Although I LOVE my bordeaux now, as it dosent moved a millimetre in any weather!

Was a bit difficult to put up at first but after a few attempts went up very easily. We are a family of 5 and plenty of space for all of us. Especially great when bad weather didn't allow outdoor cooking and held up well in both wind and rain.

Just spent 11 nights as family of 4 in this tent. Loads of room and stood up well to heavy rain and winds. Took a while to put up but was only our second attempt! Would recommend to a family of 4 with older children in separate bedrooms - probably ok for 4 plus if children are able to share bedrooms

Fantastic tent for a family of 4 for week or fortnight. Plenty of flexible living space and three good sized bedrooms.
