5 Reviews of the Montreal 5+2

Just spent 24 hrs in Devon winds averaging 35mph.Gusts 50mph with rain as a bonus.Tent cross pegged at all points. No bother other than the noise. If you want a large reliable tent and you have the room and means to transport get one of these. (and some soft earplugs) You will wonder why you never bought one sooner.

Been using this tent for 2 years now. It's steal poles may be a little on the heavy side, but considering the heavy storms we have been through where other tents have collapsed they are well worth the additional weight.

The sleeping accommodation and general layout is great for a family of 4-5, and was not uncomfortable when used with 9.

We would suggest this for any family looking for a good sturdy tent.

Stunning tent - huge tunnel lounge area and lovely bedrooms in darkened fly sheet area. Really sturdy - we had big brand tents collapse either side of us in a good Padstow storm at an estuary side side (Dennis Farm - top tip!). When storms hit you want steel poles!

Most tents are miserable in bad weather - this one still feels comfortable and bright. Rain canopies to front and side doors. With doors 3 sides you can use the door the rain isn't hitting. The ground sheet is integral and I've never had a drip of rain inside once sealed up.

I don't look at any other tents with envy anymore! Lounge is bright with well ventilated windows all around - front door you can drop down the top arch for ventilation / view. Internal steel support poles stretch the tent front to rear. Point to note - with this sturdiness comes packed size and weight - steel poles and tent bags are as big as they come. Not a problem for me but if you want light weight / pop up tent this isn't it!

An excellent tent, great size and easy to put up with 2 people. One change we would have liked would be a 2 way zip on the side doors so that just the tops of the doors could be opened and a better seal on the bottom of the front door instead of one small piece of velcro due to us having a dog. Overall we are very impressed.

Large, flexible use of space; this Royal tent is well made with attention to detail. I bought this because as a family of 3 with a dog we can easily fit 2 camp beds in the large room, a single in the smaller and still have plenty of space to move. The additional extra bedroom allows us to take more friends, if necessary, and 7 campers on beds wouldn't be too squashed with the large living space. The main disappointment is the poor instructions, but once you figure out the best way to raise the hoop poles it is much easier- I just about managed it alone, but ideally takes 3 people for a quick build. The Windows on 3 sides make this tent light and airy, with internal curtains for privacy. I like the bath tub ground sheet with a drop flap for the front door. Our tent was reduced as last year's stock £399 with footprint and carpet(excellent addition that compliments the striped bedrooms). Looking forward to some more luxurious camping.
