2 Reviews of the Panama 4

We looked for a new tent for over twelve months and in the end opted for the Panama Four. It was a good decision! The tent has now seen us safely through our first holiday, which was ten nights in four locations. This meant that we obviously had to put the tent up and then take it down four times within the ten days. The tent is easy to pitch and drop, but best to put one person inside to ease the weight on the poles until they are all in place. There is loads of room inside and it suited our desire to keep our clothes and kit inside the sleeping area whilst having the cooking and rest of the gubbins in the other room. Not a tent to erect on your own, in my opinion and as noted by the last reviewer, the one vent was not enough to stop a bit of condensation. That said, a good tent which fits rather easily into the bag that was designed for it without the need for cursing!

After our well loved Outwell Arizona finally gave up we looked around for a tent with similar features. 3 doors, easy to errect and standing room in the main and inner tent. We decided against the new Arizona as they had taken one door away and were producing it now in a very strange beige colour. After much searching (3 door smaller tents are not in vogue) we decided on this one.
It is a very good tent. Much bigger than we are used to but as we went in October this was good as we couldn't really sit outside and there was plenty of room in the main living area. We had extremes of weather and we were kept very dry from the rain. We loved the two side doors with the mesh. The bucket ground sheet was also good as, at the front door, you can lay it flat if required.
For us, there were a couple of negatives. There is only one vent in the fly sheet and that is at the back so there is a lot of condensation in the main living area. We were dripped on so much in fact, that it felt like it leaked, but we knew it hadn't . It has the mesh doors but these can't really be left open at night. We also missed a door that could be used as a canopy and the door it has , has a window but it is right at the top so if sitting inside you can't see out of the tent. The doors to the bedroom do have mesh too but only at the top part of the doors and we prefer having the option to have the whole door as mesh. Apart from the condensation the other negatives are personal things that do not make this a bad tent.
Overall a well made tent suitable for 2/3 people, just a bit too big and heavy for us to tour around Europe in.
