2 Reviews of the Reno 4
By: B4rlow Reason: I own(ed) one Made in: 2009 Rating:
Bought the royal reno 4 tent (and Carpet) as a smaller weekend tent. The tent looked ideal for our needs and the hight made the tent feel very spacious.
The design of the tent was excellent and the pitch time took around 20 mins.
We took the tent out for a trial run for 3 nights. The first 2 nights were great as was the weather.
The 3rd night was a different story. It started to rain (quite Heavy) at about 8pm. Within 5 mins the tent began to leak. It was leaking along the roof seems and collecting where the inner bedroom tent hooks up and the hooks where the front door rolls up. In turn it was then running down the hooks onto the inner tent and making everything wet. We unhooked the inner and sat there watching the tent leak trying to catch as much water as possible until it stopped raining 4 hours later. We managed to last the rest of the night and pack up the morning after.
We returned the tent to Outdoor Action Who were really helpful. They collected the tent and sent the tent for testing and confirmed the leaks and refunded us straight away.
The design of the tent was good. But when it came to handling the weather it was a let down

The Royal Reno 4 is absolutely brilliant, cannot understand why they would discontinue such a well designed tent.
There are a number of features to this tent that make it ideal for us:
Height - due to the design the tent is the same height throughout making it ideal for taller individuals, you can stand up in the bedroom - perfect for me!
Overall size - the front part of the tent is large enough to house your table, chairs and cooking equipment.
Pitching - this tent is so easy to put up with just four poles it is simplicity itself. The built in ground sheet is a real bonus for us, we have previously owned tents with separate ground sheets so I am very impressed with the ease of pitching, it was our first time out and to put the tent up and peg out took around 20 minutes.
There are little design features which make it (for me) the best tent I have owned so far; the bedroom fittings are easy to use.
The windows at the front are great for adding additional lighting without having to open up the main door.
Great tent, cannot review how it performs in the rain as it was dry when we used it.
