5 Reviews of the Tulsa 8 Man Large Vis-A-Vis

We bought one because of it's size and the ability to stand up inside.
The sewn in ground sheet is great however because there is no lip at the door the water comes in a little when it rains. We have experienced some strong winds and heavy rain whilst camping in this tent and it has withstood everything very well and so far hasn't sprung any leaks or rips.
It is heavy to lift when packed up into the bag and you need 2 people to pitch it but it doesn't take too long to set up. The colour coded poles make it a simple process which is just as well because there weren't any instructions with it for us novice campers!
We are very happy with this tent apart from not having a lip in the groundsheet by the doors. It would be even better if it came with a porch or sun canopy!

I have one of these tents for myself and my two children. It's an 8 man but I always think (especially with children) that you need at least double the 'man' of how many you are and I got this as a bargain in a sale. I love it! It's easy to put up. I have never put it up on my own but always with friends as we tend to go away - Mums and kids - each year. I love the height - no more aching backs from bending. I love the fact that you can have one bedroom or two. We use one pod as a bedroom and the other as a general store room although you could take one pod out and have a larger living area.
The only downside that I have found so far - and I have camped in the sun and rain - is that the groundsheet does not have a lip so when it rains, it comes in! However, if you think ahead, just pop something underneath each edge at night before the rain starts and it's fine. I did this last week and it was fine. Also, although there is no specific porch or sun canopy, I did buy a Gelert Horizon 8 to use with my tent and although it is not a snug fit, it more than doubled the living area, it gave us somewhere to leave the muddy boots, hang the washing, put extra seats, keep the cooker etc so that the main living are was just that, for living. I have no real complaints and we absolutely love out tent. Another good thing, unlike a lot of tents, is that when folded up it fits EASILY back into its double compartment bag! Not all of my friends have it that easy with their Colemans and Vangos and Khyams!

We bought one of these after our rage vardo 8 tent blew down in Newquay! Stood upto the winds and the rains perfectly well although there was some puddles in the morning. Ample room for the 4 of us and plenty of room for the table in the middle bit! Only thing I am disappointed in is that there is no sun canopy for this tent!

This is a good size tent but we found it is not that comfortable with 3 small children in the rain.
We bought the Tulsa as an upgrade from an old 6 man tent and to try and get more space. We loved the sewn in ground sheet good for keeping bugs out.
We used only once on a very very windy & wet weekend with our 3 kids & mad dog. As the weather was bad we found it was only just enough space for us all if we cleared one of the inner tent/sleeping compartment for the kids to play in. BUT when it rained it leaked in a big way. Rain poured through the zips and door panels. When we woke in the morning the inside of the flysheet was wet and puddles of water were all over the ground sheet, pooled in the corners and edges.
A storage pocket ripped in the sleeping compartment (only had a pair of socks in it). So be carefull what is put into them.
If you have a dog be aware it may escape from tent as our dog escaped through the air vents on the corners of the inner tents when we opened them up.
On a good note we found it was brilliant in the gale force winds and very easy to put up and take down fitted into bag perfectly. The storage bag was sectioned into poles, tent & inners. It's made from heavy duty material so no problem with poles ripping bag but subsequently it was very heavy and wouldn't want to carry to far. Overall I would say only use the Tulsa if there isn't any rain forecast, which maybe hard in the UK.

Great sized tent for larger families. Good standing height through out. I liked the fact it had a sig, but because the ground sheet doesn't attach to the bottom of the doors, rain can drip in from the zip and then runs through the tent forming puddles at the back of the bedrooms. I found the poles just not strong enough for the weight of the tent and had one broken pole the first time I used it and 2 the second. The fabric also ripped where the guy ropes attached to the tent(although this was during a very windy night) resulting in the tent being scrapped after 3 nights use.
