9 Reviews of the Gotland 5

Absolutley shocking! Poor quality finish in the way of stitching, taped seams and window covers.
Sadly I can not comment on the internal bedroom or on its waterproof capabilities as the tent failed due to poor components and poor workmanship. 2 of the 4 poles had a section that split and 1 of the tents guide line tie-off points was ripped clean from the tent in what can only be described as a mild gust. At this point I was quite envious of the surrounding tents. Needless to say this put an end to the camping trip. Luckily the site owner was sympathetic to our problem and was more than happy to refund us, seeing as we we're only on site for less than 2 hrs.

Just purchase the Gotland 5 from an ebay outlet (new tent)for £180 and worth every penny. I just love it, it is bright and airy and has loads of space. As a single lady I did find it a little hard to put up in strong wind! I have to carry a small plastic stool to peg the cabin into the high hooks. But it is certainly a great tent. I've used it twice and once in rain and strong wind and it has been fine.

Bought on ebay July 2012 and have used twice since. The size is great and it is very easy to put up and take down. However, the roof leaks and the first tent we received had a faulty zip (company sent a new one). I don't have a problem with receiving a faulty tent if it is replaced quickly enough (which it was) but this tent is not waterproof and the quality of the workmanship on the seams etc was very poor. Fortunately mine was a bargain and I will not be using it for more than a couple of days as we have a Vango Samara for longer trips (the Skandika is almost the same size but takes up less room and is lighter !) so I'll probably cope with the dripping and throw it out when it falls apart. One more thing- the colour is horrendous !

Just purchased via the ebay shop. Delivered by UPS in just two days from Germany, so far so good. Pitched the tent in my garden in under 30 minutes with the help of my son. We will do it in 20 next time no problem. Test sleep last night was a windy and rainy affair. No problems at all, ventilation was good and no condensation this morning, and no leaks either. Have taken the tent down inside 10 minutes and is airing in the garage.
Zips, poles and pegs all seem to be of good quality.
Couple of entry points for power near both side doors. This new model doesn't have the roof vents which seem to have caused problems in previous models, but still has plenty of ventilations, mozy net on all doors and windows.
Will be taking out for a weekend soon and will update after that.

I have used my tent 4 times this year. Easy to put up easy to take down. Plenty of room, waterproof, insect proof, wind proof, what more could you ask for. Bought on ebay 265. I am 6ft tall standing up to get dressed in the morning is an absolute must when your pushing 60 years old. No condensation forms inside overnight. It was perfect for a long stay and weekends.

Read all the other reviews and thought we were on to a winner with the Gotland 6, yep great space for two kids and 2 adults, build quality is really good. Our camping trips have seen High winds and heavy rain, which exposes a major design flaw, yes it could be us, but the wind lifts the material covering the air vent in the roof, which allows the rain to blow straight in. We had to try and put rope over the roof to hold it down, it would only take the company to extend the material down to the top of the doors to solve this problem. This could be a great tent, but in the wind and rain this really lets the tent down, we were showing friends our new tent when a rain squall blew in, we were embarrassed when we all felt water coming in through the roof. Gutted. We are looking for a new tent, we would buy a skandika again with the high build quality, but not one with the roof air vent.

My girlfriend and I have just used our excellent Skandika for the first time during the 1st week of this month, yep thats when all the sunshine arrived lucky us. We had an ace time and even though this was only our second camp we felt and looked like seasoned campers, this was due in some part to the quality of our kit.
The Skandika is a great looking tent, roomy, airy, cool during the day thanks to the large doors and windows, warm and dry due to the sown in ground sheet. Every window and exit is covered by an insect guard so you can leave them open with confidence. Pitching was easy when we sorted ourselves out and once up that was it no messing around tying things down and adjusting like our last tent.
The main living space is massive and a real joy to spend time in, the two plastic windows at the front are essential to keep you in contact with the outside world when you are all closed up and cozy. The sleeping area is also huge, large enough for our two double air beds (1 on top of the other), loo and clothes storage. There are handy storage pockets both inside and around the entrance to the bedroom unit which came in very handy for all those essential things you need.
On our last days we had 24 hours of rain and quite a bit of wind which unfortunately just exposed one very tiny weak point, water droplets can get blown into the side windows as they are not sealed at the bottom. I have to add it was very wet and very windy and only a few drops got in, nothing to worry about next time I will get some clips and just peg them down to make sure. All in all it was just perfect and really felt like home.

As promised I would let you know how it went. We stayed 4 nights at golden valley caravan park and the tent did us proud! The weather was a mixed bag so we saw what it was capable of. We had it pitched in a matter of 30 mins and was enjoying a cold beer whilst watching others who had arrived at the same time struggle on for at least another hour!
The bedroom had a double airbed and 2 single airbeds in and there was loads of moving about space and clothes space as well, it didn't feel cramped at all. The living space was more than ample and we could fit everything we needed in it very easily and space for more. The 3 doors are handy depending on which way you are pitched but the front door was better to use when the weather was bad as it didn't slope and get you wet when opening and closing like the other 2 would of. There was some pretty bad wind and rain on the 4th night but it stood up to it really well. There was space to cook inside if you needed to but we are thinking of maybe getting an extension canopy as with 2 small kids in the tent cooking wasn't ideal. The groundsheet had a small tear in it when we pitched which we must of done as didn't notice it when first put it up and was really concious of doing it again so am maybe thinking of getting a carpet to put down.
Overall, I would recommend this to anyone looking for an easy to put up tent with a family. I would use this for one night or more I wouldn't ever go back to my other tent now. (Freecamp)

I ordered one of these but the 6 man version off ebay last Sunday, it arrived on Wednesday and we trialled putting it up in the garden yesterday. I was a bit dubious buying it before seeing one in the flesh or not being able to find any reviews at all about it, but we were not disappointed! This is a brilliant tent. Huge bedrooms and really generous living space with a fully sewn in groundsheet. It is so easy to put up too, it took 2 of us about 15 mins. It is really simple, just 4 poles all the same length fed through and then stood up one by one.
This seems like a really well made strong tent, the test will be in may half term when we stay in it for the first time! Will let you know how we go.

Manufacturer's Description
Gotland is a great tent for your group or family vacation.
Offers a very large living space and complete insect protection for living and sleeping space. The sewn in tent floor offers many benefits:
* No rain water entering, since the tent floor and the outer tent are tightly sewn together and sealed. * No pests and no insects in the living and sleeping areas, since all openings are fitted with mosquito netting and screens. * Pre-assembly provides for very quick set-up.
Many lovely details such as the magazine holder and the lamp hook are evidence of the outstanding functionality.
The living space has a floor space of more than 10 m². Enough room for 5 people! And so high only the very tall will have to worry about bending or crawling. The many doors and windows allow plenty of light to enter the common area.
Strong: the poles. Flexible, but at the same time shatter-proofed fibreglass.
Breathable inner tent material - ideal for allowing fresh air in. And this means the tent has an ideal climate in all weathers!
Extra resilient water column.. A tent is considered waterproof even at 1,200 mm (47.2’’)! The Gotland model offers 5,000 mm (197’’)! A miracle? No!- just miraculous PU-coated polyester! This also makes the tent UV-resistant and especially storm-proof.
The water column describes the quality and strength of the coating. The higher the water column, the more water-resistant the coating ( ...and the higher the price). For this reason, tents with water columns of 2.000 mm (79’’) or lower cost less. But you’ll soon regret cutting costs here the first time you pitch it, if not before.
The tent comes in a handy pack complete with numerous accessories such as guy lines, stakes, and assembly instructions.
