3 Reviews of the 3000-ultralite

I wanted a lightweight, easy to put up bell tent for solo camping as my 4m heavy duty canvas tent is gorgeous but bulky. This polycotton bell tent absolutely fits the bill. It is easy to put up on my own and spacious. Having a built in groundsheet makes it quicker and better in torrential rain. I have yet to experience how it is in hot weather as I only bought it last September.
It is still roomy for two people and I like being able to stand up in a small tent! (I am only 5'3'). It stood up very well to strong winds and is light and small enough for me to easily manage. In fact it is so good I am wondering whether I will ever use my bigger bell tent again.

I bought this tent for solo camping and festivals. Our main tent is a Cabanon Guadeloupe, and I love cotton canvas, but it's bulky. So the weight of this polycotton bell tent appealed. The first thing to say is that the customer service has been faultless. The stuff sack is roomy, even the supplied pegs are good, with sturdy V pegs provided alongside the usual wire ones.
I followed instructions and weathered it in the rain on the lawn. Sure enough there were a few puddles but it clearly did the trick because is been bone dry in torrential rain since then. I made my own footprint from cheap tarp to keep the SIG clean. This tent is simple to put up single handed, I can do it in around 20 mins. Ventilation is excellent and it is very sturdy, with a simple wind shedding shape. One tip is to remember to put any central carpet under the pole before pegging the guys, when the pole can still be raised slightly. And don't be tempted to put the A frame in first, as the spike can rip the tent.
There is enough room for my comfy bedchair ( those carp fishers are a canny bunch) and my usual kit. The one addition I have made is to buy a triangular awning for an outdoor cooking shelter, as I don't like cooking inside. The tent was warm in low temperatures and even in heavy rain there was little condensation. And it does not get sweltering in the sun.
This is a great traditional tent in a lighter and quicker drying material: it lacks some modern tent touches ( no storage pockets, no EHU cable entry point, no clear windows, just mesh vents with zip covers, no inner available). I love the quality, the proper cotton smell and climate control.

I bought this to go on the back of my motorbike and for quick weekends away with my Son, it takes just less than 10 minutes to put up once you've done it a few times and you have a process.
Unlike the other soulpad tents which are 100% cotton canvas this tent is a pollycotton material but as is the case with the other soulpad tents it is very good quality, feels nice and strong and has withstood some very strong winds & rain.
There is ample room to sleep 2 and have space for any clothes and lighting and you can stand up in the middle so allows getting dressed without lying on your back.
I found that I can pack it smaller than what it originally came packed as and as a result it sits on the back of my motorbike a lot easier.
Excellent for weekends away or the odd long weekend but I don't think id want to spend any longer staying in it.
All in all an excellent tent that will last for years

Manufacturer's Description
Polycotton flysheet, sewn-in groundsheet (SIG), 3m diameter, 1.2m entrance, 2m at centre, weight 10.5kg. One of the easiest SoulPads® to pitch and the most compact and lightweight of the range.
We believe that luxury camping doesn''t need a car. Comfort can be carried on a bike. We''ve used our expertise and developed a modern polycotton fabric blend to take our SoulPad 3000 and make it lighter, pack down smaller and dry faster than ever so you can use it in more places than before. We help you make amazing spaces. Now they''re even more portable. Try it and we''re sure you''ll be impressed.
Designed with a low weight and small pack size in mind, this is the ''take-anywhere'' SoulPad® option. It is currently the only SoulPad we offer in Polycotton (a blend more lightweight than cotton canvas, less breathable, but arguably more durable).
