We bought this tent off some friends last year and we loved it! We used it in all conditions and it was excellent - however we found the porch area a little small and have been searching high and low for a compatible canopy/awning - we still have not found one and were wondering if anybody has any ideas??

We used to use a trailer tent, but after it got damaged in winter, we sold it, and went looking at tents. We found the xp12 at castlecroft camping (Radcliffe) bought it without thinking.
don't get me wrong, the tent itself is fantastic, but we have had problems finding a pitch big and flat enough to pitch it. The only issue with the structure of the tent is that the porch roof fills with water in heavy rain, then it sags until I lift the middle of the puddle.
I saw a comment on here regarding lining up the seams of the flysheet with the poles, I have only managed it once but the doors didnt zip up properly, so don't waste your time trying.
We (the wife 4 kids and I) love going camping and like our XP12. We love watching peoples faces as we unfold more and more groundsheet. And its big enough to park a Seat alhambra or long wheelbase Nissan terrano inside and zip up the door. This can be handy if it raining when you are packing away.

Fantastic buy, picked it up on a chance meeting, for £100. Hasn't had as much use as it should have, but as it is still in pristine condition, it's got many years left in it. Family of young 20 somethings will certainly put it through it's paces.
Easy to put up, slightly harder to put back in the bag, but get all the air out and hey presto, as if by magic, a three bedroomed bungalow in a bag!
Would certainly recommend as a second hand purchase, although the only reason someone would sell would be due to giving up camping.

My husband went out and bought this tent because he thought our Vango 500 wasnt big enough for three kids, two adults and a dog. When we first put it up it was the biggest tent in the world! We have used it continuously now for 4 years about 3/4 times a year, it has withstood some really bad weather but in 2008 one of the poles snapped under the pressure of the winds and rain (I must say most other campers left their tents and drove off!) we easily got another pole to fit even though the line was discontinued. Brilliant tent and still has a few years left in it. We take everything but the kitchen sink and it still fits in.

Best £100 I've ever spent for this slight second tent. Stands up to all weathers and very spacious. Need 3 or 4 people to put up but still the best tent I have bought. I have also pitched a 2 man tent inside the bedroom for my son just showing you how much room is in it. Only downside is getting all the air out of the flysheet to put away, takes only 20 mins to put up and half an hour to put down. I will not be looking for another tent for a good few years as I am very pleased with this one

Bought this last year but only managed to get away this May. We are a family of 6 and found this to have plenty of room.T he wind and rain was quite heavy on one occasion but there were never any problems. The only downside we found is the lack of decent windows in the main section. Will get the Vango large extension and that will cure that problem

Bought this tent secondhand from this website and have now had 3 holidays in it including Aug 08 when after the worst weather we have ever had in France in May we decided we needed another holiday and yes it RAINED!
Well the tent withstood the worst the weather could throw at us high winds on exposed site torrential downpours, yet it never leaked and we even had other kids coming into our tent due to the space.
If you want a tent with cavernous space that will be ok on almost all sites ( size restrictions on some) then this is the tent to buy. If size restrictions and paying double site fees doesnt bother you get the 20xp and park the car inside out of the rain as well.
If you can find one of these secondhand buy it as any price under £200 is a bargain but you will often see them go nearer to £150 secondhand.
We have 3 children and so each can have their own bedroom and we then use the spare for storage.
The front porch is large enough for 2 large chairs and 2 square rolltop tables without blocking the door.
Def rates 9 out of 10 but falls short of 10 out of 10 due to low height in bedrooms and the way the bedroom fronts are not more securely fitted ( although this makes putting up and taking down quicker).

You certainly get value for money with this tent. We have used ours 9 times now, in every kind of weather, Spring, Summer and Autumn and we have always found it reliable. It is very snug and warm due to the sewn-in ground sheet and is sturdy and strong in high winds and stormy weather and can also be well ventilated in the sun. The front porch is big enough to stand and cook in as well as to dine in which means we don't have to take and extra gazebo or dining tent. Plenty of pockets to keep bits and bobs safe and to hand, privacy offered by the dividing curtains in the bedrooms, colour coded poles and surprisingly easy to erect. I would definitely recommend this tent.

We wanted a tent with a lot of room inside for the kids to play in and decided this was the tent for us. Couldn't have been more right. In the last 3 years it has been pitched at least 20 times and we love it. It takes us two girls about 30 minutes from start to finish (even though the instruction say you need 3) and dismantling it takes about as long.
We have managed it in the sun (does get hot inside but opening front and back doors provides a bit of draught) and through heavy rain. The porch is huge too which is an added bonus - somewhere to sit and drink while the kids are going off to sleep
The only criticism I have is that its heavy and bulky when packed but that's the price you pay for such a monster!

When we bought this tent we asked which had survived the storms we had just had. Not really needing a 12 person tent for 4, it has proved to be our best purchase ever. After a lot of heavy use it is just starting to show signs of aging. The duct tape has been used on the ground sheet ( we were placed over a large flooded area when water came in). She is still standing up to the heavy wind and rain in the NW of Scotland. Would purchase again but with love and care hopefully we have many more years of camping left
