3 Reviews of the Hyperspace

Terra nova market themselves as makers of 'the best tents in the world' and this is an expensive tent, costing 500 quid.
Personally, I don't feel that either the quality of the tent, or the customer service, live up to the hype.
It is certainly a solid, roomy tent.
However, these tents have a major problem with poor quality zips on the inner doors.
Especially in dry, dusty conditions the zips rapidly wear out and refuse to work.
Having returned from a trip last year with the doors held up by safety pins, I sent the tent back to terra nova for repair before this years trip.
They replaced the zip sliders - and charged me to do so, which I thought was a bit off as this tent is supposed to have a 'lifetime guarantee'. Still, problem sorted, I thought.
Not so. After FOUR DAYS use, the zips at one end refused to work, and we had to use the other end only. After four weeks, the other zips failed also.
E-mails to TN produced only fobbing-off responses - ie you should lubricate the zips, and it was OK when it left here.
NOT IMPRESSED.
This seems to be a design fault which TN know about but do not see fit to rectify.
As such, I really cannot recommend this tent.

We too have a Hyperspace bought in about 1991, its still going stong. No problems at all. We replaced the poles a few years back as the old ones had become a bit bent and twisted but otherwise this has to be one of the best designed tents of all times. The way the central poles cross over in the middle means that it is technically a superior design to the Quasar which is in it's own right a legend.
We use it just for the two of us and being a three person tent has always meant the there is plenty of space whereas the footprint is not much different than the smaller Quasar.
Openings at both ends means one can be cooking in the front whilst the good wife can get out the back. The rear bell end is good for keeping boots out of the rain.
Easy and quick to erect and along with some other makes this is a tent that you can expect to see in the Himalayas or Beddgelert in Snowdonia!

Bought mine over 20 years ago when it was still Wild Country. This is one of the best mountain tents available anywhere and can withstand the worst weather.
I only ever used it as a two man tent but even with three people for a mountain tent space would be respectable and for two it was cavernous.
The front storage held two large rucksacks and one medium without any real problem. Guy points are secure and plentiful and setting up is simple and easy also easy if using as a base tent to relocate.
Headroom is very good for this type of tent and the groundsheet 20 years on is still going strong although I do look after it and it does not get anywhere near as much use as I would like it to.
Overall this tent is well worth every penny and if looked after will last a long time.
