1 Reviews of the Laser Competition 2
By: TallSimon1965 Reason: I own(ed) one Made in: 2004 Rating:
I am 6'8' and wanted a lightweight backpacking and cycle touring tent so I bought one of the very early versions. This tent has served well for many years mainly in Scotland where the weather can be rough, it has been very waterproof, and copes with wind up to about 25 -30 mph although it flaps a bit at those speeds. It is a bit of a wriggle to get out and I can only crouch not sit, but then I am tall. Later versions have had upgrades and the Wild Country Zephros could be a good replacement when this eventually goes, but that will not be for a few more years yet. Very pleased with the investment.

Manufacturer's Description
The award-winning Laser has been a popular favourite amongst backpackers and solo travellers as either a superlite 2 person or roomy single person tent since it first appeared in 2004 and revolutionised lightweight camping.
It has been UPDATED FOR 2011 with the addition of new carbon fibre poles that support the ends of the tent, these now collapse into two parts to allow a much smaller pack size than before.
Other features include a second, smaller door at the back of the tent and two-way zips for the flysheet to allow roof ventilation, along with our new improved guylines and 2g Ti pegs. Despite this the Laser Comp 2 is still a Superlite 1.13kg minimum weight (1.25kg packed) and still has all of the internal and porch space, and the unique ventilation system, of the original.
For the lightweight backpacker who wants to travel in comfort, there can be few alternatives to the Laser
