2 Reviews of the Laser Space 2
By: Matthews2398 Reason: I own(ed) one Made in: 2011 Rating:
I cycle camp on my own and have had a number of good but heavy tents. There are many things that you can choose to leave behind to make your bike lighter, but the tent is not one of them.
The tent I had been using was a Vango Omega 3 which was great to use in all weathers and camping solo, it was easy to store the bike under cover in bad weather. However the weight of the tent was always a problem. I'm 6 foot tall and having had low profile tents I knew I wanted something I could stand up in.
I have been camping in foul weather (who hasn't in 2012) and the tent is brilliant. Solid in wind and rain even with the lightweight pegs provided. Why 9/10? I would like the door to open both on the left and right for the best maximum access. Well done Terra Nova a great tent.

I paid £299 for this tent in a sale at Sports Direct.
We bought the tent to use on cycle camping tours.
The instructions advise that you seal the seams prior to use as this is not done in the factory. I did this but this is why the tent lost a point, I think this should be done in the factory.
We split the tent between two of us - poles are 1.1kg, fly and inner weighs 2.2kg so easily mamageable between 2 on bikes.
Pitches in 5 minutes and easy to pitch and strike solo.
Loads of room inside, I love the fact that you can stand inside. We stowed both bikes inside overnight.
We had loads of rain but remained bone dry inside.
Love this tent, I think its ideal for cycle touring, TBH given the amount of space I think I'd use it car camping too.

Manufacturer's Description
HIGHLY COMMENDED - The Laser Space 2 has been highly commended in the 2010 Camping Magazine awards!
The Laser Space 2 expands on the success of our Laser range of superlite tents and is the first ever lightweight backpacking tent that you can stand up in.
Weighing just over 3kg the amount of space available inside is remarkable, and the 1.76m of headroom makes it possible to change out of wet clothing in the porch whilst keeping the inner tent clean and dry. The porch is 3m2 and will accomodate folding chairs and rucksacks with ample space left for cooking or accessing the inner tent. A smaller "back door" makes it possible to exit the tent in the night without crossing your partner, or can be used as a main entrance if the porch is required for storage of large items such as bikes. The use of our superlite fabrics on this model means that the flysheet seams can't be taped, but are instead covered by a pole hood (included). A major benefit of these superlite fabrics (other than the incredible low weight, obviously!) is that this huge 2 person tent has a packed size of a mere 55x20 cms.
Note: Due to the nature of the silcon fabrics used in this tent, the seams are not factory sealed.
