The Solar Photon 2 is a very nicely made tent but it's expensive so it should be nicely made. From the spec you can see it's made from very, very light materials which gives it a flimsy feel. It billows a lot in the wind but held up well in 25mph gusts. It's important to get it lined up into the wind. I was surprised how well the tiny pegs worked.
It would be cosy for two but very usable, sleeping mats overlap at the foot end. So far I have only slept in it alone and there was plenty of space. I feel more could be done to stabilise the walls at the foot end but that would almost certainly have a weight penalty.
It's a shame tents like this don't come with sealed seams (particularly as people like me muck it up when we do it!) or even a tube of seam sealant.
I have made a groundsheet protector as the 3000mm hydrostatic head doesn't fill me with confidence. It adds 300g so it may go if I'm backpacking.
You can't argue with the weight so I think this is the best 2 man backing tent you can get at the moment. The high price, lack of information about and inclusion seam sealant contribute to an 8 rather than 10 on the score.
Go on, you know you want it!
