2 Reviews of the Odyssee
By: Chubby Chud Reason: I own(ed) one Made in: 2017 Rating:
We have the Odyssee plus (green and tan colours) and are just back from a week in Barmouth. Overall it's a great piece of kit and below are some of my observations.
Pro's: Well made, quality piece of kit. Good canvas. Sturdy when erected (had some bad winds to contend with at Barmouth). Plenty of room especially with the extension sun canopy. Great beds. Internal storage (plenty). Easy to tow (narrower than our medium sized car). Zig (use as a template to peg out the living area or you'll end up doing it twice. Can be stored in a garage. You may be able to store it on its side with additional 'sidestores' though our retailer said that as ours was the plus model (side access and end) we couldn't do that with our model.
Cons: Canvas needs to be dry when packed unless you have the space to dry out at home. The canvas can touch the inner sleeping pod if not carefully pegged out, this lead to damp inside once. On one side they've stitched a waterproof membrane between to presumably get around this issue but on the other side not (French idiosyncrasies perhaps?).It takes a lot longer than the 10mins shown on the YouTube video to get pitched (about 50 mins from start to finish for us now). If you do store on its side, you'll need to empty the storage area and get several strongmen to assist in the lift and then the lowering.
Overall we love camping in it, I just wish I didn't have to worry about packing it up dry as this influences how many weekends we look to get away.

By: DannyB83 Reason: I own(ed) one Made in: 2013 Rating:
I wanted to review the Odyssee as to be honest there is not much UK coverage of this product. So our trailer tent purchase began back in 2018 when we bought a rather large Vango tent. Myself and fiance and our two well behaved youngsters went camping. I can honestly say this experience was a nightmare, Start to finish it was stressful. The bedrooms were a constant playground and we were on top of each other all week. We decided to perservere and booked a two week break in the Vango in 2020. After an 8 hour drive and 5 hours setting up we had a great time. But again we knew that the setting up and taking down would continue to be stressful and it was.
When we came back the natural progression would of been a caravan so we started to look. Nice caravans are expensive, add storage and a towing license and its a big investment.
And then began the trailer tent adventure, I started researching and when I say researching I mean researching. Now trailer tents are great and there are some fantastic models but lets be honest they are still tents. Depending on what you buy you can still be facing a lot of setting up when you arrive. I eventually decided that the Odyssee was the way to go. Now obviously it is still a tent but it requires minimal set up. Its a pram style folding hood which means the bedrooms and awning all fold out. Before commiting I went to the two main dealers in the Uk who were very helpful and clearly new there stuff. Id gone to look at a brand new 2020 model which was circa 6000 quid. They were displaying the 2019 model which to be fair myself and fiance loved. The problem was there was no more 2019 new models in the Uk with the kitchen.I wanted the kitchen.
After some time I looked at the benefits of the kitchen and come to realise that space wise and additional cost this wasnt a real need. It also added a lot of extra weight to the tent and would always be a 2 person operation to get it off. I decided that the kitchen was a no. And then one Sunday afternoon I was browsing through a well known auction site snd came across a secondhand 2013 model. I had a chat with the guy and I ended up buying it a week later for £950.00. When I arrived to pick it up we opened it up to check it and it was like brand new as described. It also had loads of extra bits like pegs, hitchlock, chocks and fitted Kampa carpet. It also came with the sunshade for the front.
The Odyssee is hard to get ibstructions for but its not hard to set up. So our first outing took us 45 mins to setup. We loved it and so did the kids. So the actual setup is simple and is actually self explanatory. We found the little wardrobe inbetween the two bedrooms. The Odyssey has a lot of hidden storage so you can hide all of your bags etc. Its very sturdy and the canvas is thick and high quality. It has loads of zip window configurations which is great for letting air in to circulate. As for the kitchen unit. Not getting one was a blessing. We could fit loads of usable storage units down that side and in fairness do you really want to be cooking a fry up inside. The ten has a zip in groundsheet and is also really thik and tough and is a great fit with drop down door slits.
There is additional storage under one of the beds which if you have footprint under the trailer would be great for kids scooters etc.
Lets talk about the two bedrooms and the beds. These are faultless. They are sturdy, comfortable and really cosy. My daughter would spend the night looking out the bedroom window at the lake before she went to sleep.
The bed over the trailer can be lifted so the trailer is still a perfectly usable space inside the tent. Both the kids slept really well and so did we on our air bed in the main area. We just threw the airbed in the bedrooms during the day. So inside the main tent area we had an airbed, 2 storage units, an inflatable sofa and an inflatable chair. We also had the fridge etc etc.
The actual towing of the trailer was easy and I couldnt really tell it was on the back. I drive a VW van and the trailer is still big enough to reverse it and see it in the mirrors.
When we packed the tent away it was great because you were packing away into the trailer whilst still being inside.
The trailer carrys a lot of stuff so all we need to pack in the van is bedding and clothes which is really easy and a lot stressful.
Best advice if buying one of these is request to see it up, I have read they are unforgiving if packed away damp. Also the window in the roof is great for star gazing and lets in loads of natural light. Spares are readily available from Trigano via the two main UK dealers.
I have marked this a 9/10 because of the price of spares and add ons and also availability in the UK. Things we have bought to add on to the trailer.
Add on annexe £380.00
Trigano front box £350.00
Large footprint £56.00
All in all a great tent that is easy to setup and easy to tow. Its build quality is fantastic and comfort gets 10/10. Design features are better the later model you buy but the 2013 seems to be the change over for the new accessories. Be sure you can add on the annexes etc because some models you cant.
We will use this until the kids get older now and we have plans of going to europe with it as well. Only down side is costs and lead times but quality is worth waiting for.

Manufacturer's Description
The Trigano Odyssee is a great 4-berth trailer tent. Being Trigano’s best seller it offers a perfect balance of space, function and design. This trailer tent only takes 10 minutes to fully set up due to its unique preinstalled frame that is quick and simple to fold and unfold, leaving you more time to enjoy your holiday.
Made from top quality cotton the Odyssee trailer tent will last for many years whatever the weather conditions it is used in. To further ensure longevity the cotton is also treated to prevent decay and has strong stitching that will not give way.
Not only durable, the Odyssee is also comfortable. Air foam mattresses on beech sprung slatted beds will allow you to have a wonderful night’s sleep and the inner roofs in the bedrooms help to maintain a comfortable temperature. There are also flyscreens on the windows to enable air circulation throughout the trailer tent. The trailer itself is made from PVC; this is a highly resistant material which also helps to regulate the temperature inside the trailer tent and is fitted with an AL-KO braked axle and tow hitch for the smoothest towing experience.
The Odyssee has several storage options. The bed base over the trailer is fitted with a hydraulic strut to make it easy to lift revealing a large storage area underneath. The large kitchen unit also offers ample storage for all of your cooking equipment. Further space can be utilised under the other bed; either for storage or to extend the trailer tent into a 5-berth by fitting an underbed tent. If you require yet more storage or sleeping space an annex can be fitted to one side.
To further cater for your needs a range of optional extras are available. These include a sun canopy that can be fixed onto the front of the awning, a luggage rack and a front storage box.
