6 Reviews of the Albany 600

I have been really pleased with this tent. It is a good compromise between size and easiness of pitching/carrying.

Sleeps our family of 4 in relative comfort but would be very tight for 6. The bedrooms are not large enough for 3 airbeds but you might just get 3 carry mats in.

Seems to be well made although a noticed a small hole in the groundsheet on our last trip but these things happen and it will be easy to repair.

This tent was purchased second hand from a well known auction site, as we needed something reasonably sized without spending more than we could comfortably afford. The fact that a 'used' item was still in such good condition speaks well for the quality of this tent.

Pitching was intuitive even for an amateur like myself, and after a couple of attempts I'm certainly getting the hang of it. Considering the size, two able bodied adults who can last half an hour without arguing would be a good idea when pitching, especially when it comes to getting the poles into place.

Dodgy weather had no effect on the sturdiness of the Albany, with no water ingress or flapping around in the wind. The Sewn-in groundsheet is a big plus, as are the colour-coded poles, brightly coloured guy-lines, drop-down section of groundsheet at the doors, multi-position vent/window covers and so forth.

I would strongly recommend an additional footprint groundsheet for any tent this size, as drying a wet tent when it is this big can be a bit of a handful. We pitched on a footprint last time around, and it kept the bottom of the SIG spotlessly clean and dry, meaning I only had a rolled up groundsheet to wipe down when we got home.

My only slight grumble is the angle of the side vents, and that in order to have them open properly they need to be guyed out an excessive distance. In the end we only pegged out the vents at either end of the tent, which are angled much more sensibly.

Aside from that I can't fault this tent in the slightest and I look forward to many more happy holidays with it.

We bought this tent for our second ever camping trip and were apprehensive after our first tent disaster. It absolutely bounced down and not a drop of water in the tent fantastic. This tent is very easy to put up and the instruction DVD helped as well. We also have the sun canopy which with a ground sheet added an extra room for cooking in the rain and muddy boots. The inside felt very spacious even with two hyperactive 3 year olds and the bedrooms were very snug.

We have just bought one and had our first camping trip in it to Derbyshire. It was easy to put up within 20 mins, the poles are colour coded to the sleeves they go in. Plenty of Guy ropes, brightly coloured so the kids didn't trip over them.

It has a sewn in groundsheet, and is fly sheet first, so you clip in the two bedrooms in about 5 minutes. It has two doors, and lets a lovely breeze through to air it out.

The bedrooms had storage pockets in too, which came in handy. The bedrooms also have dividers should you need them, and their own vents in the doors.

The first night it rained so heavily, and we didn't spring a leak anywhere, the protex 3000 fly worked perfectly. It was that good we had condensation on the inside of it in the morning.

The living area in the middle is full head height, it has a hanging loop in the centre for a light. The windows are vented, just window or just vent, or both.

There were four of us, 2 adults and 2 kids, and we could comfortably stay in this for a week or more.

The only drawback is that when you open the door, the slope of the tent means a few drops of water fall into the tent, but this can be solved by opening only one zip. Also for next year I have ordered a matching large sun canopy! Good range of matching Vango accessories available. Cant wait to use it again!

This is our main Guide tent, and we have managed to get 12 kids sleeping in it! they still had lots of room for storage and mucking around.

Easy to pitch and strike, with clip-in ground sheets.
