4 Reviews of the Astoria 600

Just got one of these great tents on ebay - as they are no longer made and most places don't carry them anymore. The tent is huge - plenty of living space for a family of 4. Kids sleep on one side, parents on the other. Big clear windows, good ventilation, and the door awnings stop rain coming in. Not too bad to set up once you are used to it, although getting the poles on pegs is a bit of a battle. Wife and I can get it up in about 25 mins from when the bag is opened, but I don't think an older couple or one with weak hands or arm strength could do it easily. Carpet makes a big difference if you can get one. I agree with prior reviewer that it could use a couple more loops for hanging laterns. Beware it is heavy and big when folded up. Takes up about as much size as a large suitcase in the trunk, so you wont want to lug it 1km through the woods. Have not tested in high winds yet, but in heavy rain it has been fine. No complaints. Cant think of any suggestions. We are happy with it.

Super tent which is very airy and spacious especially as there is only two of us. We even have the good sized extension as well
Easy to pitch now that we have got used to it ( 6th time of use ) and the novelty is that it easily fits the carry bag without all the grunt and persuasion that we have experienced with other tents.
No problems so far ( Makes a change for made in China products ) although the extension could fit better. We have tried every thing and still get gaps.
Lots of pockets in the main tent with plenty of windows and ventilation points. The carpet is a must and will protect the fitted floor. Bedrooms are especially large and at a push you could sleep 8 people without being cramped. The central area is massive and light and great to sit in without being on top of each other and yet the whole lot packs away into a reasonable sized bundle.
We have experienced major downpours and winds with no leaks or movement.
I have heard that this model has been discontinued (goodness knows why) and we have seen these on sale for the £300 mark. Snap it up.

This is the first 'big' tent that we have had and bought it based on size, design and price. Having used it 4 times this year, for a total of 4 weeks, I have to say it scores top marks in all 3 categories. The 1st time we put it up it took about 45 minutes but can be done sensibly in 30 minutes with bit of practice. The tent seems very well made, is waterproof & fairly wind resistant. There are a fair few storage 'pockets' but it is a bit lacking in hanging points. The living area is huge and plenty big enough to use partly for keeping clothes etc.It is huge inside and would be very comfortable for 4 people, but I think 6 would be a bit ambitious, if any comfort was to be retained. All in all a terrific tent at a great price (we paid £299.00 complete) We love it and are looking forward to getting away again next year.

We've just bought our Astoria 600 and took it for our first outing over the Bank Holiday weekend. It shows as costing about £550 on the Vango website, however we got ours from tents4less for £299 which included the footprint groundsheet & carpet. We were amazed at how big it is for a 6-berth. The bedrooms are generous, although the extra little dividers don't really do much so we didn't use them. There are quite a few storage pockets and the main living area has plenty of windows to let light in. I was also really impressed by the fact the groundsheet is totally sewn in, and the mesh doors keep all insects out without exception once closed. It could maybe do with a few more loops for hanging stuff from which is my main niggle, but we loved it. And we put it up in a pretty stiff breeze, which was interesting but it certainly felt stable once up - considering we saw another group of campers give up and leave while we were putting our tent up! The 30 minute time given for putting it up is a little ambitious though. Yeah - great tent for a family of 4 plus dog.
