5 Reviews of the Blade 200
By: Martinmeatpie Reason: I own(ed) one Made in: 2013 Rating:
The blade is a cracking tent for space to weight ratio. Plenty of room for a luxury one man outing or perfect for quick stop 2 person stay. I use by myself so can relax in comfort with all my kit unpacked at the side of me. As you can see in the photo I was pitched in a open spot with no protection and with the tent pitched correctly I haven't yet encounter any wind issues. The mm rating is spot on and I have never had a leak and also with the internal space have not suffered with condensation issues either. It also packs down very small if you carry the pegs and pole separate on outside of rucksack. Pegs are an issue as with all lower budget tents so swap them out for some Robens light stakes. I do have the footprint for this tent but I have used it in pouring rain without it. Can pitch inner first or all in one. The porch is small but it depends on what you plan to store there. I manage with boots and stove and a few bits stored there as solo camper the rest inside.

Have used this tent many times with no problems. The one pole system is excellent standing up well to all mother nature could throw at it. The aluminium pegs are robust and cope well in firmer ground. The little porch is big enough for a small stove. Its a good quality tent I hope it lasts for years to come.

Used only once so far but generally pleased. Main reason for purchase was the weight and price (£72 in Go Outdoors sale). Pitched for the first time successfully in windy conditions solo without any problems although it did take longer than 8 mins!
The night I camped was windy. I'm not sure if it was the way I'd put up the tent or a design flaw but when I opened the door with the wind blowing directly onto the other end of the tent, the pole all but popped out and the tent almost collapsed. Against that, the night was very windy and wet and to my surprise (because the space between inner and fly looks small), the tent stayed upright and completely dry.

I bought one recently and used it on a 4 night trip to Edale. Was really easy to pitch with the one pole, even in blustery conditions. I used it on my own and found it roomy but compact enough to carry if backpacking. A little drafty at the front due to the gap to the ground of the outer skin, not excessive but noticeable. Could possibly remedy this by using separate pegs for the inner and outer skins. I used the Vango adventure windbreak across the front which helped. Generally a good tent for both backpacking and camping.

Two of us recently (Aug 2013) completed the Wainwright Coast to Coast and used the tent most nights in different conditions(except for lots of wind!)
Lightweight and simple to pitch quickly. Short on pegs, which bent very easily (would recommend purchasing stronger ones).
Lots of features like Line-Lok guyline runners and reflective pegging points are brilliant and would recommend this for trekking or casual camping. All kit and two bodies inside made it cosy but acceptable.
Top score not given because a seam started to part, close to front of inner tent and porch a bit on the small size. Still a great tent!
