7 Reviews of the Capri 600 XL Airbeam

Used this tent for the first time this weekend, and we love it. Plenty of space for the 3 of us. Downside is not having a mesh door on the side. Easy to put up and take down.We bought a footprint and used an old carpet. The front extension comes with its own groundsheet to keep your feet dry when sitting outside and cooking.

I took a leap of faith and bought my first inflatable tent. I always find Vango to be a good manufacturer, so chose this one.
The tent was quick to put up and easy to work out how to inflate, much quicker than our poled icarus version. It really is very spacious for the 3 of us. I find getting it back into its bag more of a challenge as I can't get rid of all the air, even with the help of my 2 teenage boys.
It had no problems keeping us dry in the multiple downpours, but it hasn't been tested in the wind yet. The darkened bedroom was very good at keeping the light out in the mornings. The mesh door to the front was very useful for our 1st camp in Wales (loads of midges!)
My favorite bit is the canopy, allowing me somewhere to cook and sit outside with protection from the elements.
My main problem is that on packing away the cord snapped in the only pole the tent has, now that may have been due to my teenagers enthusiam, but they have taken poles down many times in the past.
So before our next trip I need to work out how to get it fixed. All in all I can't wait for our next trip!

Great tent. Easy to pitch not quite as quickly as they quote but we can get the tent and all the gear sorted in less than 1.5 hours. You need a strong ish individual to get the beams properly inflated, as a girl I struggle . That said with the other half to help out we've had 3x outings so far and no complaints. Very pleased

Having just got back from a second outing with this tent I feel able to give some comments. I have had two chances in the past month (August) to use the tent in anger. I am new to airbeams but took the plunge based on great feedback from people I know with one.
It went up first time and no problems (I did try it at the local park as a first test) at the Cropredy festival where I was pretty much putting it up by myself. No issues, peg the corners, pump up the beams and peg it out. People next to us very impressed by the sheer speed.
Being August and a festival we got a good pounding by the rain.
No issues with the watertight state of the tent generally - with one exception - the inner tent and the outer blew about quite a lot and touched leading to there being some water hitting the inner.
Having seen this I dropped the front of the inner tent off the loops so it could not touch in the breeze, problem solved.
There were three of us for that trip, my partner (who had back problems hence I pitched it largely myself) and young son.
Internally the space is great, room to hide from the weather and not trip over each other. The awning at the front is great for the cooker and provides good cover. Bed room area is great, room for the airbeds and all the clothes bags.
Taking it down went smoothly and quickly. Even got it into the bag second attempt!
Fired up with this success my son and I have just returned from North Cornwall after a week in the Vango.
Again up and down no issues. The weather was far more demanding with some very heavy gusts of wind during the week and more than a little rain (the BBC weather app refered to heavy rain. It was that! Some bloke over the field called Noah was busy on a wooden boat I gather.).
The tent stood up to all the cornish summer weather without any problems - bone dry inside (I did drop the inner tent based on previous experiance).
All in all most impressed. People keen to find outmore. As we left a fellow camper asked how it came down so I quickly demonstrated!

We have just used this tent for the first time, although we have had a smaller Vango Airbeam tent before. This Capri 600XL is a good sized tent for two adults and two small children. We are only a couple so it was more than enough room for two of us.
This tent is easy to pitch and easy to take down. If you watch the video tutorial on YouTube it makes it even easier. We also purchased a footprint groundsheet and carpet as this protects the underneath and inside of your tent.
Only one moan the front entrance which is the one we used the most as it has a built in canopy hasn't got a mesh insect screen on so our tent filled up with resident bugs quite quickly! Can of Raid was needed! Side entrance does have an insect screen.
We had quite few people come over and ask us about the Airbeam and were quite surprised by the quality of the tent, I think a lot of people are still unsure about using an inflatable tent!
A definite thumbs up for us though. What I would say is anyone thinking of buying one of the Airbeam tents should do some homework first and make a decision about which one to buy as the tents are quite expensive.

2015 model just bought and used for the first time. A bit nervous about taking it on our first trip having seen mixed reviews, but shouldn't have worried as it was fine. Had it up in about 30 mins fully pegged out, bearing in mind I was doing it on my own. A great design and easy to put up. Plenty of room for me and my 2 children but would Be a bit of a squeeze sleeping 6 in the bedroom. Far easier to put up than tents with poles and came down pretty quick too, which was good as it was raining when I put it down.
The man in the next tent said he was impressed with how quickly we packed away. It is difficult to get everything back in the bag, but once you've rolled it and sat on it a few times we finally got it in. I'm not sure if keep rolling the tent will affect the airbeams or damage them in any way, but poles can also be a problem after a few trips so will be good to see how durable they are.
The tent comes with a small puncture repair kit so any issues whilst away can be sorted fairly quickly (I hope) The fully zipped door helped keep the heat in, unlike some that don't zip along the bottom. We did had a few occasions when the zip got caught on the door, but this happens with most of our tents. The side door with fly screen helps air the tent but keep bugs out, so we used this quite a lot as it got quite warm in the tent during the day. The bedroom doors only have 1 zip each, so you have to fully close. Some of our previous tents have had 2 zips so you can have the opening part way up if preferred. This helps if the kids want to get out as you can place the zip opening at the appropriate height or just unzip the top of the door if you wish. As it rained on our trip we managed to put it up quickly in the garden to dry it out, not sure it would have been as easy with poles. All in all a great tent and easy to put up and take down. Would definitely recommend

I am adding this as currently there was no review for this model. This I new for 2015 and we have used for the first time this weekend.
We have the 600 edition.
Easy to pitch and we are brand newbies for Airbeam. Felt would when erected and it was tested in Northern heavy wind and rain in April weather! Plenty of useable space inside for a family or a couple who like having more space.
Get it back in the bag isn't as easy as taking down mind you we are new to it and it is our first trip.
We did keep getting the zip stuck on the main door. There seems to be a grey waterproof bit that keeps getting caught in the zip and that's annoying!
However for a first trip we are pleased. It is £100s cheaper than other Vango airbeam models and we are pleased

Manufacturer's Description
New for 2015. For those seeking a more spacious and comfortable weekend tent, the Vango Capri is the perfect choice. Available in 2 different designs, the 400, 500 & 600 are a compact design and the 500XL & 600XL are much larger family tents. All sizes of the Capri are designed with an ideal use of space between sleeping, living and outdoor areas. The living area and built in front extension are large enough to entertain the whole family without feeling cramped, and the front extension comes with its own groundsheet to keep your feet dry when sitting outside. This is whilst the sleeping quarters with their 'Lights Out' inners refuse to let the sunrise dictate your sleeping pattern.
