2 Reviews of the Carrera 500
By: Rsen77 Reason: I own(ed) one Made in: 2015 Rating:
This is the best tent we have owned and we’ve had approximately ten of various sizes - 12 man down to two man over the years.
The biggest advantage of the Carrera design is that you can get into this tent without soaking the floor. There is a built in porch that enables the front door to be vertical and under cover so that any rain on the tent roof does not pour in. I cannot understand why other manufacturers do not adopt this method of construction more.
We have been camping in torrential rain and have remained perfectly dry. It is spacious although, admittedly, we only use the tent for two of us and it is very easy to erect. The separate bedroom is a good size and the living space is big enough to accommodate a kitchen area if it is too wet and windy to cook under the porch. Ventilation is easy as there are vents in the side walls that we keep open and the door can be partially unzipped because the porch prevents rain getting in. We use a footprint and put tent carpets into both sections for additional warmth and comfort. There have never been any condensation problems.
This tent is perfect for two, acceptable for four but five would be very cosy. We have used this happily for five years and it remains in perfect condition. We are looking forward to another season of camping and, whilst we also have a couple of quick erect tents that we intended to use for weekend trips, we now only keep them to lend to our grown up children. We use the Carrera as we can stand up in it, keep dry in wet weather, easily organise all the camping gear in the spacious sections and it doesn’t take more than about half an hour to erect. That includes putting up the bunting and the fairy lights!

This tent is fabulous. It rained and hailed over the three days we camped at the end of March this year. There were no leaks or collection of condensation. It held well against the high wind we encountered. The porch is a welcome bonus and kept our wellies and muddy trainers dry overnight. I would recommend this 5 birth roomy well designed tent, it does the job.
