1 Reviews of the Cosmos 400 Nasecamp

By: Cryan  Reason: I own(ed) one  Made in: 2020   Rating:

Owned and used Vango tents for 20 odd years. This year we had planned to go on an extended road trip 6-7 weeks including north west Scottish Highlands and so wanted something that could stand up to the job.

Already own numerous style and size tents but saw that this was being released and was in the technical range but family size- perfect! Should stand up to the wind and rain in Scotland but not take forever to pitch or take up too much room the car

20 mins single-handed pitch time was fab.

Groundsheet slippery and thin and I'd assumed would be sewn in but is a poor fitting bath tub.

Bought the footprint as the groundsheet was so flimsy- but that didn't help as it was also thin and slippery and every time we took it down (9 times) the water had seeped through in places.

Condensation is awful as not enough ventilation.

Bug screen is only at the top of bedroom windows so can't get very good airflow. And holes are too big so mozzies still got through the mesh

Boiling as soon as sun is up so had to pitch a tarpaulin on the side of sunrise.

Poor fitting bathtub groundsheet allowed water in the front door in wind.

Ok size for family of 3, not 4

Small and light pack size.

I was wrong about it standing up to wind. Gusts of just 30mph and the pre-shaped alloy pole from the porch split AND snapped! Ripping the pole sleeve.

Neighbouring old style Icarus next to us was fine. Why did I buy from a technical range?

Customer service is appalling, 3 weeks in and they have finally asked for a photo of the pole. Meanwhile we used a £50 Eurohike tent for the rest of the hols with absolutely no problems (just a little cramped).

Always trusted Vango but will not buy from them again! Customer service and quality has seriously let them down.

Overall an awful tent, at 'technical price'. And still awaiting a satisfactory response and a refund under guarantee!
