Mr Bob. When you know how these tents go together they are pretty easy to put up. We too bought ours second hand but it came with a dvd that I ripped to my iPhone and was able to follow it in real time. This dvd comes with the tent when it was new and I'm sure you would have found it ok to put up if you had the dvd as reference. I think this tent is one of the best tents out there. Even though its 10 years old. These things withstand all weather thrown at it. I will be upset when the time comes to go and find a replacement.

Great tent. BUT ( Vango please note )
The inner tent is a swine to fold up so that it fits back into the bag, the pegs for the poles need to be on the outside to avoid damaging the fabric. The instructions with this tent are as useful as feathers on a fish. We got ours second-hand, if you get a new one I suggest you make a step by step photographic record of unfolding it, so that you can reverse the process when trying to pack it up with rain-aggravated haste. We now pack our tent into three bags, poles in the original and the fabrics into two old mail sacks.

Great family tent. I consider it to have two bedrooms, one living room and a kitchen, although others may use it differently. Lots of space in the living room for a table and chairs, standing and moving about and spreading games out on the on the floor. Lots of handy pockets for storing the camping bits 'n' bobs. The 'kitchen' / tunnel works well as a cloakroom and drying room as well as keeping hot stoves away from playing children. Have sat through a number of big storms and felt cosy, safe and comfortable with the sewn in groundsheet and zip up windows and doors. Love the fact you can have lots of light with the windows open without wind whipping through. Pretty easy and quick to erect and strike, easily achieved with two adults when you know what you are doing. Only downside is the door at the front of the tunnel which has long zips running down and away from the inside of the tent, which on wet days can make closing the door a bit of a damp and tricky job.
When the weather is good the front door opens up as a porch and you can open the back door and windows and it is light and airy.
I think you are hard pushed to get a better family tent.

We bought this tent off of a family friend as they no longer needed a tent this large. We were brand new to camping and were very surprised how easy it was to erect (about half an hour/forty mins max) and how small of a bag it packs away in. The space inside is very generous! The bedrooms can each fit 3 single beds if needed and the living area has ample space for tables, chairs etc with space to spare. Head hight is brilliant too. We have two small children and a 10 month old lab and we have all recently lived comfortably for 7 nights in this tent. The porch area is fantastic for storage and we use this area as our kitchen. It also comes in handy if it is raining a little but you want to sit in the fresh air as the canopy extends right out using poles as a support. There are pleantly of windows for light and vents. This tent is the first and probably only tent that we will buy as it couldnt meet our needs any better than it already does!

We use the Diablo for longer camping trips of a week in the summer. It's great, very spacious for the for of use, and room for bags etc. The porch is great for cooking in, and for boots when it's wet, keeps the inner area clean and dry. Ours has never leaked, we've used it for about 4 years now. The only downside is that it takes 2 people to pitch, inner first and can be classed as a jumbo tent, but we've only had to pay extra for it once.

This was recommend to use so we brought it love it but if some one could tell me how to put it up with the outer already on so if raining it won't get wet as when ever we end up taking it down at the last minute it rains and then needs the whole lot to dry out very steady tent lots of room for a family of 4

We have had our Vango Diablo 600XP for 4 1/5 years now - it has been camping many many times. We love it. We had always had a heavy frame & canvas tent before, and my son bought the Vango for our birthday - saying we were getting older and needed a lighter tent (cheeky rascal). So anyway it is less than 2/3 of the weight of our previous tent, takes about half the time to put up. Is very wind and watertight. Has amazing space inside, both in the bedrooms and living area. We have used it for 4 adults, 2 kids and dogs. It is very light when the windows are uncovered and the mesh allows you to cool it on those hot days and keep the insects out.(although I don't think we have had many of those recently) Only 1 thing it says one person can put it up. I have tried and found it difficult to hold up centre and get the first rod into the ring. - Need 2 for this part. I would consider another Vango again - but not until this one on its last legs - we just love it.

About 5 years ago I finally talked the missus into going camping, and went to the local camping store and they had this tent, it was the last one. This is the only tent we have owned and it is great,we have had 8 people in the living area including a large ish table, still with room to walk past the chairs. The bedrooms are large with plenty of pockets. It stands up to severe wind and rain well,(as we found out last year in bude). The sun canopy make for a great addition and gives you even more space. I wish they still made this tent as I would but another one in a heart beat.

When we decided to go camping I had no idea that there was such a huge choice of makes sizes colours manufacturers its mind boggling. But after a few weeks searching and reading reviews I decided that the Vango came tops.
The first time we pitched it took around 45 mins to pitch up at Langdale in the lake district. Later that night the wind got up and the heavens opened and it was a monsoon it poured down and didnt stop all night. The Vango Diablo 600 xp was amazing - it stood fast it didnt leak one drop it never flinched. It was scary at times but it was fixed down with storm pegs and it stood solid.
Inside the tent is very spacious loads of room in the living area and also in the 2 bedrooms - very good head height. The sewn in ground sheets are great - I invested in a living area carpet made for the Diablo XP which gives you that extra comfort. The porch area is just great with the option to put your kitchen equipment either side on or at the end depending on the prevailing wind direction which helps, and plenty of room for the kids muddy trainers and boots.
The guy ropes are high viz so un suspecting kids or slightly drunk campers do not get decapitated wandering back from the toilet blocks. The Diablo has a second or rear door which is great for hot sunny days it just allows the tent to keep cool but still feels warm. It has plenty of window openings for ventilation in the bedrooms and lounge area with mesh to keep out bugs.
The one tiny problem I seem to get every time I pitch is the bedroom and lounge door zips are really difficult to close. I put this down to the fact that I must be putting to much pressure on the guy ropes or the base pegs are pulled to far apart, the zips fasten eventually with a little fiddling here and there.
To round off - I love this tent - I feel safe in it - I would highly recommend this tent to anyone who wants a fantastic family tent for room, height, warmth and protection from the good old British weather.

Took myself and wife about an hour to pitch in high wind in North Devon recently. Bought second hand on recommendation from Ebay and not disappointed. Held up very well in strong winds and after waterproofing before we left, not 1 leak. Very warm tent in cold weather and not at all draughty. Easy to pitch and site. Porch area ideal for cooking and taking off wet clothing and boots. Huge middle area which we used as eating area, and would recommend carpet for this tent as it does help make things more comfortable. Pods okay in size but despite 2 of us sleeping on an airbed, can't see how you could get a third in there but maybe on camping mats (3). Its a shame that this model was discontinued after this time but Vango have made a 2012 in a different colour but after having stood in one at a camping centre, much prefer the older version which I already have. Poles colour coded with sleeves on tent for ease of use.
