3 Reviews of the Edoras 400

We have just returned from a month long tour of the continent in this tent and have been very pleased with it. We replaced our old Outwell Minnesota as we were attracted by the airbeam inflation system, knowing we would be pitching a number of times over the month. Although the tent is large for two people (we were at first worried it was too large) we were very grateful in the end that we had all the space as the weather was unseasonally cold and damp at times. We had purchased the tent complete with footprints, carpet and porch door. This was ideal in the wet - we only used the inner porch footprint, leaving a space in the entrance so you could take off your wet gear before stepping on to the groundsheet. There was ample space in the main compartment to have a table and chairs, a clothes rack, the camping fridge and still be able to move around comfortably. In the porch we had our cooker stand and cooker plus another table.
The airbeam works well once you are used to the valves. We had to put the tent away wet most times and we still managed to get it into the bag ok, particularly as this is well designed and you can put the bag over the rolled tent before turning the whole thing the right way up.
The hook and grip system along the beams is great - we were able to hand up clothing and wet gear, and also have a hanging LED light system which was sufficient for the whole tent.
The carpet is comfortable and cleaned easily.
The hookup oulets are well hidden, but well placed.
Minor niggles. Firstly, not enough pockets and the ones in the living area were too small to be of much use. We think we'll have to buy a hanging unit for our next trip. Secondly, as there is no porch over the side doors, the wet drips in when you open them. This was a particular problem when we had overnight rain and we were in shaded Italian sites so it took a long time for the outside to dry, despite the weather having warmed up. I also preferred the door system on our old Outwell as each door had three parts - door, window and fly screen, which could be hooked fully back in any combination or opened as one.
We did have some dripping condensation in the porch area, but it did get down to pretty low temperatures some nights.
Generally, we are very pleased with our purchase.

Just purchased the 400XL and used for the first time over 4 nights in very heavy rain. Very easy to inflate, deflate and get back in the bag although the bag is very heavy. I agree with the niggle on the previous report about the side doors. There were two entry points for electric entry. It is a very tall tent - I'm 5'2'' and can only just touch the roof at full stretch. Great height in the bedrooms and plenty of room to have our double sim in either direction across both pods. Very good ventilation means we had little to no dripping condensation although windows were misted. We purchased the porch door which, given the weather, was useful in providing a wet to dry transition area - if sun were guaranteed I'd probably leave it off. It just zips in. Great tent , very spacious for two of us and can't wait to use it again.

Just recently purchased this tent and used it for the first time. It's a great tent which is easy to pitch, strike and pack away. While I really like the tent there are a couple of niggles that if addressed would have made my rating a 10 instead of a 9.
The first niggle is the way the doors are built. The opaque waterproof outer door is separate to the mesh flyscreen. I prefer the doors the are a single door with an unzippable outer which reveals the flyscreen. This allows just one zip to open the door with the outer closed.
The second niggle is there is only one electric entry to the tent. An entry on each side would be better in my opinion.
The zipped curtains are far better than tents with toggle fasteners.
