10 Reviews of the Eos 350

By: Philc806  Reason: I own(ed) one  Made in: 2015   Rating:

Excellent tent; quick to put up and can be left attached to the inner for easier erection and taking it down. Contrary to comments made above my tent has one mesh outer door as well as a partially meshed inner door and location rings in the roof of the inner and outer for lights etc. Two can sit comfortably on chairs in the porch.

I have just returned from a VERY hot week pitched just below Ivinghoe Beacon and its been used often from late September in monsoon weather at Glen Coe to early May in Whitby. Never a drop of water enters the tent as long as the doods are secure. I'm 69 years old and have camped all my life and can say this would be a great second hand buy, if used carefully.

This is my first time buying an Vango tent - having seen many used by the students on the of D of E expeditions I assess and supervise.

Good Points:

* It takes me no more than 20 minutes to setup by myself (took a little less time when my youngest son helped during a trip to the Brecon Beacons in 2014).

* The sleeping area is a good size for two people. It seems large enough for three (certainly has much more room than the Vango Banshee 300) and is brilliant for one.

* Pitching the outer before the inner keeps one relatively dry in wet conditions (such as those I experienced in the North York Moors this summer).

* The tent folds down well and fits snugly into the bag provided without any issues.

* As long as one realises that it's not a particularly high tent when purchasing, there is room to sit on a fold up chair in the porch area.

Bad Points:

* If it has rained, or if the tent has any condensation, then opening either of the doors lets lots of water into the porch area - discovering this was really rather disappointing.

* The seams are sewn, so they need to be water-proofed else water can readily get in.

* There is no hook for a light on either the porch nor the bedroom area.

That said, this (due to the space available) is now my go-to tent for solo D of E expeditions beating my Jack Wolfskin Termite 200 hand-down (at least when I know the weather forecast does not predict gales, that it'll be light when I arrive at camp, and that I'm not moving from camp site to camp site on a daily basis).

Having decided to do more camping this year, we bought this tent. One of the features we most liked was the size of the porch.

We found it easy to erect and take down. We have had it up in heavy rain and high winds and found it stable and dry.

We are extremely pleased with our purchase, and hope to have many more trips in it (dry or wet!)

I bought this tent for the roomy porch- great when you have a wet smelly dog with you! Pitched the tent solo, so took me longer than the other reviews, but do-able even as a novice. Could fit a camping chair inside the porch with dog and general camping equipment. Added benefit of the two doors- helpful when windy (mine had fly screens). Stood up to the wind well, but have not had it out in rain yet. However,I can take it down with inner still attached if I do get caught out in the rain.

We purchased this tent as an alternative to our Vango Zetes 300.We primarily use these small tent's when we can get our main tent taken on down the day before we leave if the weather is good and the main tent is dry.We were impressed with the amount of porch area given by the Eos providing good storage space, and the sleeping space in the pod.Pitching fly-sheet first then attaching the sleeping area and ground sheet took around 20 minutes.Another little feature of this tent. Is that the skirt of the fly sheet tucks under the ground sheet, which is then fixed into place with four hooks in the living area, making the tent virtually draught free. Two mid sized windows at the front allow a good amount of light into the tent, and the doors on each side can be opened without letting outside moisture fall on to the ground sheet inside.Head room is around 1.5 mtrs. Overall not the cheapest small tent, but at just over 6KG's,and packing into a small bag, ideal for light weight car camping,or,overnighting if on long distance journeys. The one downside we could find,is that, there are no fly nets on the doors.

I've just spent 2 very wet nights in this tent and the sleeping area was completely waterproof. The porch let in a few drops of water - possibly because the rain dripped in when we opened the door. I like the 2 doors and windows. Like another reviewer I'd like to have anti-midgy mesh covering the whole door Overall a good buy.

Fantastic tent, very spacious, light enough to take on motorcycle. Lots of room in sleeping compartment. Double matrese in and still space either side. Roomy in the main compartment and the door zips along the bottom for extra windproof. Easy to erect and pack away. Three storage pockets either side of sleeping compartment. Fantastic tent.

I bought this tent in a hurry as my very old (I bought it in 1994 and have used it loads) and trusty 2 man Vango finally gave up in a storm half way through a camping trip in the Lake District last year. It was 6.00pm and few shops were still open. It was still raining so we really needed a new tent urgently - but there really wasn't much choice. I bought this tent as it seemed to fit best with what I wanted (a move from backpack camping to car camping!) and was very discounted.

I've been really really pleased with it. I've only owned small tents before and having the large porch area is brilliant. Just came back from a week in Cornwall which was quite cold and wet at times. The porch area is big enough to sit in and cook in (near the open door) and the ground sheet can be folded back if necessary.

We've slept three (smallish) adults in the sleeping area very comfortably. It feels really big for two people!

The tent is easy to put up and take down and can be done easily by one person.

My only complaint is that the sleeping compartment door only has netting at the top, rather than over the whole door, so you can't unzip the cover and see out/get lots of air, while keeping the midges out!

Purchased this tent from Go Outdoors to replace my Hi Gear Voyager 6 Because I wanted something for CAR camping. I am very impressed with this tent. It has stood up to all this rain (April 2012) and not even leaked. This 2012 model has flaps that fold under the porch groundsheet so sort of seals it and stops drafts getting into the living area. The tent is very well made although when putting it away one of the Velcro guy rope straps pulled away (just needs stretching back on) so no problem there, hence the 9 out of 10 rating! Very very impressed by the size of this tent , I managed to fit a double and a single flock airbeds into the sleeping compartment showing this truly is a 3 man tent (cozy 3 adults. Perfect 2 adults and 1 child). Another plus is you can actually put up a camping chair and sit in it quite comfortably in the porch which surprised me. I'm about 5' 9' and still had an inch or 2 headroom!, Overall an excellent buy and highly recommended. Well done Vango.

Easy to pitch comfortably slept two but could be a struggle with three. Ideal size for a weekend away and the front porch area is ideal for storage. Haven't used it in the rain but the seams appear to be strong and secure. The only downside is the inner sleeping area ceiling which sags slightly but this is only a minor quibble.
