6 Reviews of the Gamma 450

Great piece of kit. I have owned this tent for over 6 years now and it has never let me down. From sub-zero GB rally weekends, to Torrential Cumbrian rain, it has not skipped a beat. Hot summer days are a breeze too (no pun intended) because you can open both the front and side door for venting.
The poles are all intact and the elastic inside them is still pretty taut. Nothing has become unstitched, torn or ripped from use and the waterproofing is still pretty good despite me not re-proofing at all.
Sleeps 3 adults with ease, (any more would be a bit of a squeeze) but has an added bonus of a small 1 person sleeping inner that goes in the front.
Have never bothered with that bit, thus leaving even more space in the porch area for camping boxes, stoves, wood etc. In fact, you can fit 2 mountain bikes in the porch too, and still have space to boil some water when its poring down.
It is a doddle to put up and as the fly goes up first, the inner never gets wet. It can be pitched in 5 mins, but this takes 2 people and practice!
Under a battering from wind and rain it remains remarkably solid for a 2 season tent, but like any tent, if it is erected correctly and properly anchored, you should not have any issues.
The storage bag is extremely hard wearing and is big enough to fit additonal groundsheets et al if required. This makes it really easy to put away, knowing that it will always fit in.
Probably a bit heavy for back packing, (although you could distribute bits between 3 people)
All in all, it is my second Vango tent and I would buy another one in a heartbeat.

I love this tent, real quick and easy to put up, flexible entry and you have the option of an extra pod at the front or use the area as living space. The main sleeping area has (just about) room for a double and a single airbed, so ideal for a small family. Not sure if an extension piece is practical or available for this tent but if it is happy days.

What you see is what you get and it is excellent. We have owned six different tents for different uses and this is one of the best. This is a brilliant weekend tent for two but you can fit in four if you don't use air beds. Okay the headroom is low, but it doesn't claim to be six feet tall. Weatherproofing has lasted and is still like new since 2006. It takes 15 minutes to put up and less to put down and pack away.
Out of all our tents we will keep this one until we stop camping.

I've used this tent several times for lowland camping, using the car and it's been brilliant. The tent is not too big for a weekend away, but just right. Of course it's no good for backpacking . But that's not what it's for.
My two kids, myself and the dalmatian have slept in this without any problems. We've always slept sideways though, not as shown in the picture.
The front area is great for cooking, eating etc, leaving the sleeping compartment for storage of bedding etc.
Two doors are a great help too.
Highly recommended.
Happy camping !

Brought this one as I wanted a replacement for a similar sized and my Ridigdome was too big for doing Scout camps.
Plenty of room for 2 people and all the equipment/paperwork required for a Scout leader running a camp.
Stands up to wind very well
Quick and easy to put up
Case - Briefcase type bag holds tent and mallet

My boyfriend and I bought this tent in 2006 for camping trips and also for Glastonbury. It has survived two very wet Glastonbury's and numerous wet and windy trips to the Lakes and Wales and it is still going strong!
We now have a dog and he fits in perfectly and we still have loads of room to store our camping boxes.
Ideal for a couple with a dog and lots and lots of camping gear :)
I'll be very sad when the day comes for us to get rid of this tent, but I can't see that happening for a good few years yet!
