3 Reviews of the Genesis 400 Airbeam

I bought this tent late last year as now I am getting a bit older I cant cope so well grovelling on the floor to get into my tent bed! I needed some head room.
When it arrived in the post, it did not have any guide ropes with it so I had to ask for some.
I did a test inflate a few weeks before going away and the tent stayed up fine. It rained whilst up in the garden but did not seem to let any water in.
I was a bit nervous taking it away for the first time last week.Partly worried the inflates may pop, puncture or blow away. I should not have worried. It is truly lovely.
A 4 man tent, I managed to inflate and erect the tent alone even on the cliff facing and therefore windy site.
It was remarkably easy to put up and the main inflatable frame coped excellently with a very windy day and night that saw some bigger tents collapse. It coped with the bit of very light rain so I don't know what it would be like with a full soaking. It was spacious with a good size living space and a good enough height to stand and cook/change.
Its taken a couple of times to get the hang of deflating it fully but I find if you unscrew the caps completely it goes down quickly and small enough to get back in the bag again. A great buy.

We spent 2 weeks in Scotalnd with this tent. 2 weeks of rain and wind. On the first night we did have a leak - not quite sure where from. After this there were none despite some very heavy rain, and I concluded it was to do with the way I had put it up. Getting the tension right in any tent can be difficult.
It is true that there is a type of perspiration leak though on or through the nylon you get a few drips if the roof flaps.
Positives - very easy to put up, rather more difficult to get in the bag after though. Stood up to wind and rain pretty well. Removable divider meant we could use a large air bed in a single divider.
Good to stand up in for dresser etc. Plenty on space in the awning for kit and cooking.
Negatives. Ventilation gap in rear of tent cannot be closed, and direct access to inner through the inner gauze means that in wind not that difficult to get a draft on the face. Flap held open by 2 guys needs a zip to close - and it flaps incessantly in a stiff breeze. Front ventilation gap does have 2 bits of Velcro and could do with more.
The top of the tent is very difficult to tension correctly, and flaps noisily in a breeze. But then most tents do. The very effective high rise at the opening was a bit difficult not to trip on. The material ties to roll the tent up are much too narrow, and the smaller pegs supplied are inadequate in the wind I bought some special sand pegs which were excellent and some suit case straps which worked well.
We did enjoy are tent very much nevertheless.
Generally speaking a good tent experience. Airbeam excellent idea.

Paid full price for this tent as Vango would not allow dealer to discount. The first time we used this tent it rained quite heavilly and the tent leaked in three places. We continued with our camping holiday but each time it rained the tent leaked in the same places.
Returned the tent to the dealer (Springfield Camping) who returned it to Vango. Tent was returned two weeks later with comments that two of the beams have been treated and there was nothing wrong with the tent. We were given a small tube of Seamgrip by the salesman and told to use it if needed.
The following week we went camping in Scotland and it rained and guess what? Yes, the tent still leaks and in the same places.
We are very dissatisfied with the tent having spent £500.00 of hard earned cash on a leaky tent. I expected this tent to be 100% as described by the manufacturer. What's the point of bragging about it being 5000mm waterproof when it leaks at the first sign of rain? And, I don't expect to have to repair a new tent!
