2 Reviews of the Helvellyn 200
By: Paulharness Reason: I've used one Made in: 2020 Rating:
These are 'value' tents; OK enough but made to a price so don't expect them to last for years. The good thing is, being semi-geodesic, you can roll them around to dry quickly. But the material is pretty thin & needs regular cleaning & rewaterproofing.
If you're of any sort of height or weight, then 2 people in the tent will be a squeeze.
No groundsheet in porch area.

By: 1uk3y Reason: I own(ed) one Made in: 2018 Rating:
So, I purchased this tent as my occasional backpacking tent for solo trips. I felt Vango offered a good compromise between value for money and quality.
Firstly this tent is new for 2018. I have owned Vango tents in the past and this new model is definitely improved into terms of materials and construction. The aluminium poles provided are lightweight, strong and snap together really well. They also slot through the tent very easily. The pegs provided are a huge improvement - they have pointed ends and are just a more substantial feel when held. I haven’t had a problem with any bending on me yet! In terms of construction, the tent has a 3000mm HH with fully taped seams. I camped for 36 hours through a storm in Snowdonia and this tent kept solid and kept me dry! The porch area is adequately sized to ensure safe storage of gear etc but this section does not have a sewn in groundsheet. The sleeping area consists of an inner tent and 5000mm HH sewn in groundsheet. This inner tent section is good, spacious for one but cozy for 2, well ventilated and leaves a good 6 inches between the sides of the inner tent and the outer flysheet.
Structurally the tent is solid. The three poles create a strong structure and I tested this in very windy conditions.
I can’t fault this tent yet, let’s see how it handles a british winter but it’s great so far.

Manufacturer's Description
The Vango Helvellyn is a semi geodesic 2 man tent, which is ideal for year round trekking, particularly on rougher terrain because of its excellent self-supporting structure. Part of the Vango Experience collection, it is ideal for those where weight and pack size have been kept to a minimum. The Helvellyn benefits from a sizeable interior, including a large front porch area and a multi-functional flysheet door, allowing access from with side or to roll away completely for an open porch. Perfect in all environments, this easy pitch tent is great for wild camps and multi day hikes.
