I bought this tent 2 years ago when I pitched it found to be defective went back was given replacement pitched that it was also defective so they sent it to Vango for repair who did a bad job fixing wrong type of straps to the ground sheet and missing 2 tiny holes which I had put highlighted so I repaired it myself but saying that this tent easy to pitch can take a battering from the weather as long as you make sure flaps are over the zips proper or the zips leak packs up easy I always got it back in the bag and ziped up easy if I had not had the early problems it would have earned a 9 I since bought the extension which is ace for cooking and sitting out

We bought this tent in 2011 and are delighted with it. We used it first at Glastonbury in torrential rain. Not a leak in sight. After Glastonbury, we have visited 4 more sites with it and can't wait to use it again this year. There's plenty of room in the main area of the tent and the bedroom area is also spacious (although I'd say for no more than 4 people). We invested in a tent carpet which makes all the difference.
The husband finds it fairly easy to put up and down. One small problem is that, no matter how well he folds the tent, the bag just wont fasten. Don't let this put anyone off though, I'm sure most tents probably have the same problem.
All in all - good value for money.

We own this tent. As a family of 4 with 1 & 3 year olds this tent is an ideal size for the next few years. I agree with other reviews that any more would be a squeeze, although I suspect we could squeeze a friend or two of the children's in if needs be.
The tent itself has been used by us twice, and friends of ours once. On two occasions it has stood for multiple nights against torrential wind and rain (not by choice I might add.I'd rather it be sunny!), and has been absolutely fine. On one night there was a small puddle of water in the far corner but the rain was horizontal and relentless all night. All the sleeping quarters were dry as a bone.
The tent itself is very easy to pitch, which we have managed (with extension and footprint) in about 45 minutes and expect this will come down too. The extension is very roomy, and ideal for muddy boots and cooking, as well as sheltering from the elements whilst not being 'trapped' in the tent.
De-camping is equally straight forward, and the tent goes back into the bag fine, although the zip broke on the last outing so we will probably now purchase a bigger tent bag to accommodate the extension and footprint.
Overall a fab tent which I am sure we will use for the next few years. The friends mentioned above have now also purchased this tent and are equally happy.

We are a family of 4. The children are still young and we fill this tent, wouldn't recommend for 6 people unless they are sleeping in the living area, rather than one of the bedrooms. We have been very comfortable in wind, rain , cold and hot weather. Never have a problem putting it up, or down. Would recommend!

Bought this tent last year from the Outdoor Megastore after seeing it erected in their showroom. We were amazed as the size of it for the price. We were pretty new to camping and have found it very easy to put up. We have used it a few times to go to Cornwall and it has stood up well to some torrential rain and high winds. Would agree with others that it would be a squeeze for 6 but a great tent for 4. Havent bought the carpet yet but will do and thinking about the front awning as well. Have just been to a tent show by Millets on Hendra campsite in Newquay and they had some great bargains but nothing better value than this. Would definitely recommend

Just got this tent from outdoor megastore. We have only pitched it on the local playing field to see how it was to put up,it goes up easily but does bend about a bit in the wind and there was only a slight breeze so hoping its not windy when we go away in a few weeks, the inside is very roomy but we have purchased the front extension for cooking in.We previously owned a Vango diablo 900xp and the quality of that tent was far superior than the Icarus but then it was a few hundred quid more so not surprising really. All in all it seem a good tent for the price and will write another review once back from our week away.

As first time campers I wanted a tent that was easy to pitch, after watching demo videos online plumped for the Icarus 600 dlx. Its massive inside although I would have to agree with other reviews about being a 6 berth. But that can be said of most tents. We just had our first outing to Newquay, tent went up very easy, and also packed away easily. 2nd attempt to get it in the bag though one of the guy ropes came off but I took a stapler, job done. No problems with leaking, we had quite heavy rain the first night. Blustery at times, held out well. I would recommend this tent, but not for 6 people. Nice size for 4.

Just upgraded to this and after trailing round many a shop we settled on this for the quality, vast space and also ease of pitching. This has just returned from a very very wet weekend in Ullswater where it stood up to torrential rain magnificently. The space inside is fantastic and it really is worth playing the extra for the carpet, side extension and footprint. We did not buy the footprint and had to try and wipe down a muddy groundsheet in the rain resulting in the tent being covered in mud now and needing a good clean down. Would have been much easier with a footprint.
The high quality of this tent is so noticeable next to hi-gears and even the Outwells, attention to detail is the key here. This has brace straps built in for high winds and when not needed they simply pop back into the little bags on the side of the tent walls. The sleeping area accommodates 4 comfortably in two double beds with room for a single if needed. The windows make a huge difference as the interior is lovely and light and you can watch the world passing by if the weather is not so good. If you purchase the DLX which is bigger than the standard Icarus and also the side extension, be careful with pitch sizes as we were unable to put up the extension on EHU due to the sheer size of this fab tent.
We would recommend this whole heartedly to families and those wanting lots of space

Got this from Outdoor Megastore, seemingly the only stockist, along with the sun canopy for the front and the footprint.
We wanted a tent that could be used for weekends (quick to put up) or for a week or more (plenty of space) and sleeps four comfortably, the 600DLX ticked all the boxes.
We’ve just spent a week in Somerset, fully pitched in 30 minutes with the canopy, then the rain came. We had a few small leaks, all on the seams at the rear of the tent, but it was torrential rain, this tent isn’t really built for those sorts of conditions. A bit at Seam Sealer generously applied soon sorted that out. It did stand up really well to the high afternoon winds even though we were pitched side on to the wind.
Loads of space but could really do with the bug mesh on the front door, the front canopy is really great for cooking / eating or just sitting watching the world go by with a cold one.
Overall a good tent, quick and easy to pitch, good space but with the canopy is over 7m long. Would recommend it as a great 2 season tent.

We own a Icarus 600, we purchased our tent about 3 months ago and have used it nearly every weekend since we purchased it, we also brought the canopy which goes on the front of the tent, which is a great extra as you can sit outside of a evening and have nice shade and protection from the wind but still with the outside feel, we also purchased the carpet which gives it the homely feel to the tent and is a great extra as we have young children, we also purchased the extra ground sheet which fits perfectly under the tent and is also time saving as it means the tent is less time to dry out and pack up because the bottom of the tent is protected. Would definitely recommend this tent.

Manufacturer's Description
The Vango Icarus 600 DLX is a limited edition tent that is unique to Outdoor Megastore. The tent is essentially the new Icarus 600 but with an extra wall panel added that has the effect of extending out the front of the tent by approx. 1.2m to create much more living space. The additional panel will feature two additional window panels to ensure the tent remains light and airy but otherwise the tent is as per the standard Icarus 600. You can also add the two extensions to the Icarus 600 DLX - the standard Icarus 600 Sun Canopy can be added to the front of the tent and the Vango Tunnel Extension can be added to the side.
The Icarus tent range is likely to prove even more popular in 2010 due to the fantastically simple 'as-one' easy to pitch system and the simple 4-pole no hassle construction will make it the most ideal of weekend tents. The tent frame is constructed using Powerflex fiberglass poles, a Protex 2000 Polyester flysheet (2000mm hydrostatic head protection) and as is the norm these days, the groundsheet is fully sewn-in to keep out unwanted pests and draughts. The other key features of the tent include, as-one pitching, single 6-berth sleeping compartment (with roll back divider), TBS tension band (Stan likes Status Quo) system for extra strengthening in adverse weather, 10,000mm HH internal groundsheet, side 'J' door with mesh double door, heavy duty continuous poles sleeves, storm skirts, pelmet with storage pockets, cable entry point, front door mesh vent, reflective webbing (helps aliens encounter you), 'Crystal Clear' windows (with internal covers), breathable fabric inner tent, parallel zipped front door can be used as a sun porch (porch poles not provided). Handled carry bag and repair kit included. Flame retardant throughout. Please enter the manufacturers description here, or leave blank if not known.
