5 Reviews of the Icarus 600 XL

Bought this tent in 2012 from outdoor megastore I have used it eight times since then. I also purchased the extension awning and footprint. The tent is well laid out and of good quality pitching is easy and it looks pretty cool too. We bought the awning as the second time we used it it rained and when you open the front canopy to reenter the tent water dropped inside also cooking in the rain was an issue we didnt want to cook inside the living area so for me the awning was a must. This tent stood up to some pretty high winds last summer in cornwall the site st ives bay is pretty exposed and the tent withstood the heavy winds we had to take the awning down when it got really bad but it didnt ruin our holiday this however is the reason Im changing it as we want something a bit more sturdier as we like this particular site ive just bought a kampa filey 6 air.
In summary this is a good well made tent easy to clean waterproof and sturdy I will be sorry to see it go.

The tent is great, unlike the weather we have had so far with our camp trips. Can say that this tent does not leak at all. Our old 1 did that's why it ended up in a campsite trolley bin. It took me about 30 mins on my own 1st time I put it up. Reckon I can knock 5 min off that now I know where things go. Even quicker with help. It has a side and front opening I we have a extra canopy we put on. The bedrooms are the same size and we can fit 2 single camp beds in 1 room with a bit of a gap in between. The living area is huge and comfy. Plenty of space. And I can easily stand up. Think I am going to invest in footprint carpet having read other reviews. We are a family of mum n dad and two young girls and bought this tent to last the years.

Bought this recently for £300 from Outdoor Megastore - with carpet and footprint total was @£400. Campbeds (purchased to replace a queen size blow up that failed) don't actually fit lengthways as per advertised picture so have to go side on making them still slightly longer than one of the sleeping pods. Not a problem as there are only two of us but this would be an issue for a family who appreciate a bit more comfort. Living area is huge and would have been prepared to sacrifice some of this for larger sleeping area. 15mins pitching time is pretty ambitious - after our 4th attempt the best we have managed is 35 - definitely a 2 person job as the tent is too big for one person to manage. Disappointing that Vango don't include the porch poles (if I had realised I wouldn't have given away the old ones with our old tent) - these should come as standard. Bag is useless unless you have a PhD in packing - we resorted to buying the large Vango wheeled bag which is big enough to fit the footprint and carpet in with the tent as well making for neater storage.

This tent is excellent, it has a spacious lounge area & two bedrooms that fit double inflatable mattresses in, it is light and airy & is great for our family of four, we also have had extra people sleeping in the lounge area. The footprint is an excellent addition to the tent as it keeps the underneath from getting dirty, it was also completely waterproof during a wet weekend in Wales. Straight forwards to put up & away by two adults.

This tent is great for us (family of 5). Very roomy living area and easy to pitch. Recently holidayed in the pouring rain with no leaks - amazing. We have added the tent carpet and the footprint which I would recommend also. We wanted a tent that had the rooms at one end of the tent with having younger children so this fits the bill.

Manufacturer's Description
The Vango Icarus 600 XL is a limited edition tent that is unique to Outdoor Megastore. The tent is essentially the Vango Icarus 600 but with an extra section added to the front of the tent that has the effect of extending the living space out by a massive 1.2m. The additional section features two additional window panels to ensure the tent remains light and airy but otherwise the tent is as per the standard Vango Icarus 600.
The Vango Icarus tent range has built its popularity on the back of its fantastically simple 'as-one' easy to pitch system and the simple 3-pole or 4-pole no hassle construction makes it the most ideal of weekend tents. The Vango Icarus 600 XL features a 6-berth (3+3) breathable inner with removeable curtain, an enormous (390x390cm) living area and a fully sewn-in polyethylene groundsheet.
Other features of the Vango Icarus 600XL include, a Protex 3000 embossed polyester flysheet with 3000mm hydrostatic head, Powerflex fibreglass poles, as-one pitching, TBS tension band system for extra strengthening in adverse weather, 10,000mm HH polyethylene sewn-in groundsheet, front 'U' door with secondary mesh door and step-in sill, side 'D' door with mesh double door and step-in sill, heavy duty continuous poles sleeves, storm skirts, pelmet with storage pockets, cable entry point, cable tidies, front door mesh vent, reflective webbing, 'Crystal Clear' windows (with internal covers), parallel zipped front door can be used as a sun porch (porch poles not provided), orange guylines with retainers, handled carry bag and repair kit. 15 minutes pitch time. Flame retardant throughout. Wind and rain tested.
