1 Reviews of the Icarus Hub
By: Joxyfoxy Reason: I own(ed) one Made in: 2016 Rating:
We took a chance on this hub shelter as we couldn't find any reviews. We needed somewhere to use as a kitchen and for shelter alongside our bell tent. Having been away in mixed weather in Wales the previous week, we spent a lot of time looking for something that would work for us. We needed something waterproof, large enough for at least 8 people, easy to put up, and small enough to transport. We took it away with us to Weymouth the day after we bought it (on offer in Go out doors for £125, we did see it pitched and liked what we saw). The weather warning was poor so we thought with a 28 day return policy, we would really test if it was man enough for all our needs. 4 adults put this up, for starters we didn't know how to do it and also it was so windy and rainy we had to get it up quick as we needed it immediately. It was quite tricky to put the pins in the poles as there are 2 sets of poles per corner. This gives its stability but I'm not sure if one person could put this up alone, more hands are needed.
The doors/windows are all zipped in so there is no flapping. You can choose which door/window you open and they have handy pouch that you tuck them away in when not needed.
We fitted 8 camping chairs easily in (we actually crammed more in as the weather so poor we had guests come in for shelter).
Pegs supplied but are useless (we used our own heavy duty ones) and not suitable as lift out of ground too easily with any wind.
That is my only criticism of this hub. It's everything we needed and wanted. Much better than the Coleman Event Shelter as sides are zipped in so no leaking or drafts or flapping sides.
Came down easily and packs down into smallish bag and not too heavy to lug. Definitely recommend. It withstood prolonged rain and persistent drizzle along with winds of 18-40 mph for 36 hours. It meant we actually stayed on site rather than packing up and going home. The sun did come out and we enjoyed 3 days of sunshine.
Great shelter to snug down in, play cards and drink wine

Manufacturer's Description
The Icarus Hub, designed by James, our family camping designer, was inspired by the giant dome of St Paul''s. He wanted to create a communal space for the campsite, where groups or families can congregate under shelter from either the sun or rain. The high ceiling and wide construction makes this a really bright and airy event shelter. Unlike similar shelters on the market, we have included all four doors so you are ready for any weather condition. Each door has a mesh inner, to keep out the biting bugs, and four zips, which means you have complete flexibility to leave them fully open, partly open or fully closed.
