2 Reviews of the Juno Tepee 800

Great value for money tent, sheds wind and rain well but the previous comment about the open door and rain is valid but I rig a tarp cover when camping in the winter.
I've used the tent for about 20 weekend trips and its ease of pitch makes it a pleasure to use. Last winter we snow camped using this tent and the only problem was a build up of frost inside which needed knocking off and brushing outside.

I needed a large tent, cheap, and this looked like it would suit. I liked that it's large, tall enough to stand up in, and - most importantly - very easy to pitch. All you have to do is peg out a couple of points on the groundsheet, put in the pole, peg out a few guy lines, and you're up. If you're pitching in the rain or if you have little kids who want to run wild while you're distracted, this is a real blessing. I was able to put this up by myself in a few minutes, even though I'd brought a 3 year-old along.
This tent is definitely very roomy. You can easily fit two double air-mattresses, and probably even three double mattresses, with plenty of room to spare for gear.
This is a single-skinned, thin tent. It's not very warm at night. Under sunlight, the top of the point gets a bit hot and buggy inside.
There are two problems with the design. First, the ground sheet is fully sewn in, but not at the entrance. That means a lot of wind can get in. It can be addressed by sewing or gluing in a strip of velcro. The second issue is that , being a tepee, the entrance is inclined upwards. That is to say, when you open the entrance, any precipitation (or beaded water on the outside of the tent) is going to come straight down onto the floor of the tent.
The only way around this problem is to rig up some sort of awning. There is a loop at the top of the tepee, and I was able to affix a large tarp there, then peg the tarp down onto the ground, making a sheltered porch. Creativity with poles and guy lines (not my strong suit) would probably result in something very satisfactory. At the very least, I found it quite easy to make something that kept the rain out and gave us a place to have our breakfast on a drizzly morning.
At some point, I'd like to get a nice polycotton tunnel tent for our whole family. But, since I only paid £65 for this, I'm really happy to have this as a back-up, or for when I am doing a quick weekend single-parent-style trip with the kids.
