3 Reviews of the Langley 400

Love my Langley! It's roomy but not too big for one adult and one child to put up themselves (it's easier for two adults). Living room with all it's windows is nice to sit in (carpet, inflatable chairs make it really homely) even if it's raining outside. The best bit though is the canopy at the front - you can come in and out (or more importantly the kids can come in and out without a flood of rain coming in as both doors are covered. In light drizzle (Scotland all the time!) you can sit outside but undercover with a book and a cuppa. I usually take a separate camp kitchen shelter but for trips where that is not an option, I bought a porch extension for the front (Vango one) and it's extended the tent enough to allow all the kitchen stuff to sit in the canopy/porch bit.

Quite easy to put up, especially after a bit of practice.
The bedroom is the perfect size for two. We have squeezed 4 in (2 children, 2 adults), but this was at a festival so not much other luggage, equipment etc.
Living area is quite roomy. Beig enough for four to take shelter in during any rain.
Love the porch area. We do all the cooking out here. It's deep enough to cook even when raining.
There is mesh insect net on the main door. The side door would benefit from one too so the tent can be aired without lots of insect visitors. Only single zips on doors. It would benefit from double zips.
It has survived lots of rain (some extremely heavy) without leaking. It pooled a bit on the roof when we festival camped, but this was due to not have sufficient space to pitch as well as we would like. But on regular campsites, when pitched properly there was no pooling at all.
Like many polyester tents it suffers from condensation build up so the inside feels wet, especially in the morning. It just needs a good airing.
Just about fits back in the bag - although I do keep the mallet in the bag with it.
Overall a really good tent that we are very happy with. Love the green colour too.

Pros:
Easy to put up when you have a system!
Roomy.
Porch a great addition as I was sceptical at first that there may not be enough room in the living area given it was smaller than other tents we looked at first but it turned out we used the porch more.
Sleeping area good size but only two of us so it's ample space for a double aerobed and lots of storage space.
The 200x240 carpet works great and is cosy in the mornings and middle of the night toilet visits.
Packs up well although the oversize bag mentioned is not so oversize as we couldn't get the tent into the bag on the first attempt.
Cons:
The single zip system is a pain as zips are at the bottom of the doors and they are big doors. A dual zip would be much better. I had them on a tiny, cheap tent!
Could do with a strip of hanging storage pockets in the living area as well as the pockets on the bedroom wall area.
1st night the tent stood up to constant rain very well and dried up nicely. 2nd night of lighter rain it didn't dry so well by morning and a pool stayed on the living room roof. With a slight head touch on the inside the water started to drip into the tent. Luckily we were packing it up anyway but I was annoyed as it had seemed very waterproof until then. With much shaking of the tent we still could not shift that pool of water before we dismantled it.
I'm not sure if a bit of waterproofing of the single skin roof area would be an idea as the side walls are ok as they have large plastic windows which fill up a lot of the space.
I am still looking forward to using the tent again but will be worried if the rain comes.
